‘THE OUTING’

It was a day after the party and as at 1pm in the afternoon, Patty and her friends were still sleeping. They were the last crew to leave the venue since they were the 'organizers'. They were just lucky that it was saturday and not a weekday. The party went just as planned. They had alot of fun. They even took more than enough pictures after the party. Tony had slept off in Patty's room without noticing. For Blessed, it wasn't her first time so it was normal. Rejoice was the first to wake up which was a miracle. Since there was no one to talk to, she decided to wake them up. 

"Wakie wakie...how can you guys be sleeping whiles I'm awake" she said tapping them to wake up.

After a few minutes they woke up. Tony felt like beating the sh!t out of Rejoice for ruining his peaceful sleep.

He decided to go back to his hostel to freshen up. Hannah started to talk about him right after he stepped out of the room.

HANNAH: I think Tony has feelings for Patty.

PATTY: eeeiiii....madam! Easy ooo...hahahaaa...you are very funny.

GLORIA: Hannah is right. The guy has a soft spot for you.

PATTY: I know he has a soft spot for me and that's because I'm his bestie. Blessed please help me explain to them.

BLESSED: Well, they are right. I didn't voice it out because I didn't want to be the one to tell you. I know you think you are just his favorite bestie but the truth is he actually has feelings for you. 

REJOICE: I just thank God I'm not the one who raised this topic. Patty just make sure you don't turn him down when he finally asks you out because he is a good guy.

PATTY: Well I still don't think he likes me that way. I'm like a sister to him and I love him as a my brother. The brotherly love is all I have for him.

BLESSED: I know you don't love him in that manner but just think about it. We are your friends and we will support you in whatever decision you take.

PATTY:  But I don't love him in that 'manner'.

GLORIA: As Blessed said, we are your friends and we will support you in whatever decision you make.

PATTY: Thanks guys. 

Tony on his way back to his hostel realized his room key wasn't in his pocket so he returned back to Patty's place. He was about to knock on the door when he heard his name. He decided not to knock but to eavesdrop on their conversation so he heard everything they talked about. After hearing Patty's reply he decided not to go inside but to go to his hostel. Luckily for him, his roommate was arround so the door wasn't locked. He was hurt but he couldn't blame Patty. He decided to keep his feelings to himself.

Patty and Blessed were on their way to one of the cosmetic shops on campus when it started to drizzle hard. They didn't see any sign of rain so they didn't take an umbrella. They then decided to hurry to the shuttle station in order to shield themselves from the rain. The station was just a stone throw from where they were. They sat on one of the benches at the station. They were talking about how the rain had ruined their clothes when a guy walked up to them. He was the fine guy from the party. 

FINE GUY: hello ladies. 

"Hi" Patty and Blessed responded.

FINE GUY: I'm Joel. Remember me from the party?

"Yeah" Blessed responded while Patty nodded.

JOEL: Patty I would love us to be friends. Can I get your contact?

"We can be friends but i can't give you my contact" Patty said. 

"Don't mind her" Blessed said while stepping on Patty feet, signalling her to give him the contact.

"I just want to be your friend" Joel repeated dissapointed.

"Okay" Patty said, giving in.

"Thank you and nice to meet you again" Joel replied with a sweet smile and took his leave.

It had stopped raining and they went to get the items they needed in the cosmetic shop. Blessed knew Joel very well and started to talk about him on their way back to their hostel.

"Someone has got a crush. I admit you are lucky because a lot of girls like him" Blessed said to Patty with a smile.

"No one is crushing on anyone. Besides he is not my friend. The way you are talking about him shows you know him. I'm not surprised though" Patty replied.

Back in the hostel, Patty decided to read her note when she received a text on her phone.

Hello damsel

                                        Patty:

                                             Hi

Joel here, your new friend.

                                         Patty:

                                               Okayy.

Joel New Friend:.                    thanks for accepting to be my friend .

                                Patty: 

                                     Welcome.

Joel New Friend:

Can we go out sometime? Maybe during the weekend.

                                        Patty:

                       Naa. I don't think so.

Joel New Friend:

Oh c'mon. I just want to know more about my new friend. 

                                            Patty:

                         I will think about it.

Joel New Friend:

Okay. No pressure.

                                              Patty:

                    Cool. I was about

                   to read before your text

                  came through.  If you

                 don't mind I have to get

                 back to my book.

Joel New Friend: 

Okay. Bye

At the cafeteria after a stressful day, Patty briefed Tony and Blessed about Joel asking her out. Blessed encourage her to go while Tony on the other hand told her to go if only she wanted to. He told her to listen to her heart. Patty wasn't listening to her heart because she  never does. She trusted her brains more than her heart. Blessed told her it was just a friendly date. But Patty didn't see it as a date but rather an 'outting'. Blessed couldn't help but tease Patty with Joel but she wasn't bothered since she wasn't interested in him.  Blessed continued to tease until they got to the hostel and she spread the news to Patty's roommates. They also encouraged her to go. Later that evening, Joel called Patty and asked if she was done thinking about it. She still rejected the offer but later agreed after Joel persuaded her. He thanked her and ended the call.
