Werewolf Ye Sha

787 Words
On the sixth floor of his apartment, Ye Sha stood in the bathroom, staring at his reflection in the mirror with a troubled expression. Although he had escaped the little ghost's pursuit, he had turned into something even more terrifying—a werewolf. He couldn’t help but wonder if this made him one of the "supernatural entities" causing chaos in the world. “Well, I guess it’s a blessing in disguise. At least as a werewolf, I have a way to defend myself against the supernatural,” Ye Sha muttered, trying to console himself. Naturally optimistic and easily satisfied, he was managing to keep his sanity despite the traumatic events of the night—being hunted by a ghost and transforming into a beast. “Can I even turn back to normal?” he wondered aloud. Being a werewolf came with great strength and rapid healing; his arm, which the little ghost had bitten, was already fully healed. But if he couldn’t revert to human form, he would have to abandon the city and retreat to the wilderness. After all, he had no desire to harm anyone. “Turn back, turn back!” Ye Sha focused hard, trying to will himself back into his human form. But despite his efforts, his body remained unchanged. The terrifying werewolf stared back at him in the mirror. It was late at night, and the world outside was eerily silent. Thankfully, no one had witnessed the harrowing chase earlier. Ye Sha dragged his bulky werewolf body to the sofa, which groaned under his weight. “Whatever, I need some sleep. I’m exhausted.” Despite the werewolf's enhanced physique, Ye Sha’s mental state was drained. He adjusted himself into a somewhat comfortable position and closed his eyes. The next morning, sunlight streamed through the windows, bright and warm, as if the horrors of the previous night had never occurred. Ye Sha groggily opened his eyes and realized he had returned to his human form. He jumped up from the sofa in joy. “I’m back!” he exclaimed, looking at his hands. Not a scratch remained from the previous night. “Crash!” The cheap sofa finally gave out, collapsing under the accumulated stress of supporting the werewolf all night and Ye Sha’s enthusiastic leap. Ye Sha didn’t care, instead rushing to the bathroom to check his reflection. “If I can turn back into a human… can I turn back into a werewolf as well?” Naturally, curiosity got the better of him. In a world filled with supernatural chaos, every lifeline mattered. Concentrating again, Ye Sha felt his body transform. His muscles expanded, fur sprouted, and his clothes—already tattered—were shredded completely. His hands turned into clawed paws, and his face became the fearsome visage of a wolf. Stretching his new limbs, Ye Sha felt the immense power coursing through his body. As a fitness trainer and martial arts enthusiast, he quickly understood how to harness this newfound strength. Another focused thought, and his body reverted to its human form. Ye Sha looked at the ruins of his clothes, sighed, and headed for the shower. His clothes were beyond repair, reduced to little more than strips of cloth. “Seems like the transformation relies on mental strength. Last night, I was too exhausted to change back,” he analyzed later while seated at his computer. “And the moonlight must be the trigger—once activated, I can switch forms at will.” To learn more, he searched the term “werewolf” on a supernatural website established after the emergence of these entities. The site cataloged known supernatural occurrences worldwide to help humanity survive. However, his search yielded no results. It seemed werewolves hadn’t entered humanity’s radar yet. Undeterred, Ye Sha browsed other entries, calmly slurping instant noodles while reading about gruesome supernatural events. “Ring, ring, ring!” The sound of his phone snapped him back to reality. He realized he was supposed to go to work. Life in Jiangyang City remained relatively normal despite the chaos, and skipping work wasn’t exactly responsible. “Hello, boss?” Ye Sha answered, feeling a bit sheepish. He had dodged death the previous night, but skipping work without notice wasn’t ideal. “Ye Sha, getting cocky now? Skipping work after becoming our top trainer?” teased a sultry female voice. It belonged to Liu Yuning, his boss—a stunning 27-year-old with a mature charm and a figure that turned heads. “N-No, I wasn’t feeling well and rested a bit longer. I’ll come in this afternoon!” “Fine, but don’t forget to clock in when you get here!” she replied, her tone playful but commanding.
