In chemistry class the following Monday after Kaden and Avery's argument, we had a lab and they didn't work together. Avery decided to walk right past him and work with some football player while Kaden ended up working with another guy on the lacrosse team I had seen him hanging out with a few times.
I was working with Carlos and Dylan but couldn't keep my eyes off Kaden. He looked so tired and broken, his head somewhere else. I felt so bad seeing him like this and I knew part of it was my fault but I did't have it in me to go talk to him after hurting him the way I did. I didn't even care if I was hurt myself because I hated seeing him like this.
"Addison, are you in there?" Carlos waved a paper in front of my face to get my attention. I guess my head was someplace else too.
"Huh?"
