Sometimes the B.T.H wins - The next day

It was a hard night, I had nightmares. Alan came to my room hug me until I could fall asleep again. I cried, no matter what I did I had to leave the pack.

“Don’t worry Aleena, dad would never let anything of harm come to you.” I was a mess. He was trying to make me calm to fall asleep.  “Alan, I will become a rogue,” I responded between sobs.  “Sush, don’t say that. Do never forget that you have Alpha Glen and Luna Mikaela by your side. You are not alone.” I had my head on his lap while he gently made moves on my head to calm me.  “If they try to go against Alpha Oscar it will create a war. I can’t let them destroy their pack because of me.” I stood up still sitting on my bed.  “Aleena, you still don’t understand, you have the gift to find Destined Mates, anyone in their right mind will fight for you.” I started cleaning my eyes of the tears.  “Not our Alpha.” He sighs. “We can all tell that he is not in his right mind. Now sleep, tomorrow is a new day, for us and the couples that you put together.”

The morning arrived too soon. I got up, probably had bags under my eyes, the sleep was not enough, my brother was sleeping next to me. I gave him a push and he fell down the bed.

“What, what happens?” His hair was a complete mess, making me laugh. “Morning Happen.” Getting up.  “You look like shit.”Giving him a goofy look. “Have you seen yourself in the mirror?” He looks at his hair in my vanity mirror, then smiles at me. “I look sexy even with bed hair.” I laugh.

“I got to go to my room to dress, see you downstairs Sis, we must have breakfast at the Pack House.” My mood changes, reminding me of last night's events.  “That is not a good idea.” Putting his hand on my shoulder. “Since the Lowlands Pack are still here, we need to go, part of the job of being the gamma sons.” I pout.  “Not in the mood.” Kissing me on the forehead. “For me?” Puppy eyes.  Really? I roll my eyes and nod my head, making him jump and out to the bedroom to shower and change. I also got up, very slowly, got to shower, put on a strap top with polka dots, black shorts, put my hair up on a ponytail. Got down to find my family getting ready to leave.

“I was just about to call out.” Mom kissing me.  “Now, that we are ready let us go.” Father opened the door for us to leave. Our house is not far from the Pack House, so we walk there, we call it the morning family walks.

Once we arrived, I see that Alpha Glen and Luna Mikaela are at the Breakfast table already, but not Alpha Oscar and Luna Marie, they give us a warm smile, and Good morning, that we responded. We sat in the same place as always, Father, Mother, Alan, and me, and soon after everyone started coming saying morning, and setting in place at the table. I notice a few chances the Lowland Pack stared arriving and sit after their Luna, the way I paired them, Ames and Keavy were near the Luna, and after them, the couples sit down.

Something was off, I started sniffing the air, I could scent new smells, that is not possible, our scent does not change. I look at Ames and Keavy and though maybe they got together.

‘That would be disappointing.’ Orianna says in response to my thoughts.  ‘Why, were you interested in Ames?’  She sits in my head and gives me a sad look. ‘No, but if the pack leaders believe in Destined Mates, and join then to Mate even if there are not mates, maybe we are wrong about them.’ I look at Luna Mikaela and Alpha Glen, they seem natural, like that disposition is normal. I smell their scents again, and this time Ames scent was Iron Wood and Cherry, and before it was Olneya, and Keavy was Rose and Lyche, and before it was plum.

‘Maybe we missed their mates at the ball, and they found someone else, that is why their scent changed.’ Orianna and I were trying to understand. ‘That is not possible, we know every scent in the pack, even the warriors and guards.’ I was looking at them eating, when the unmated from our pack started arriving it was interesting to see, Lin came in and sit beside my brother, we left a gap between us, the feelings in those too were so easy to see. I smiled at that. We saw couples coming together and taking their seats, Theo and Talia, seems she liked him but never told anyone because of Taya, Tory sat beside Talia, and Lewis came after and sat beside her, making her move a little uncomfortable, seems he had a crush on her. Asli came in and sat beside me, and Brian came and sat next to Lewis. Again, something as off about those two. I sniff again and it hit me, I got up in one jump and point at Asli and Brian.

“Why do you two smell different?” Everyone looked at me. I then pointed at Keavy and Ames. “And you two also, your scent changed.”

“What do you mean, Sis?” Alan looks over everyone that was now looking at me.

“Do not start Aleena, we don’t smell anything wrong.” Tory spat making Talia hit her arm.

 “Still yesterday Asli scent was White Alder and Pear, and Brian was Spring Cress and Limon, but today Asli scent changed to Cherry and Brian to Lychee.”Putting my hand in my mouth looking at Keavy and Ames. Everyone was looking at me like a grown two heads. “By the Moon Goddess.” I collapse on the chair. “What is it, Sis?” I put my arm over my eyes.  “You guys are now mates.” Asli looking confused, “what do you mean?  By what you said we don’t have the same scent.”  I sat down correctly. “No, not you and Brian. You both and theirs.” I was moving my arms from Asli and Brian to Ames and Keavy. I could see Brian giving a large smile, being mated is always better than not. “That means?” Ames looking at Asli.

                “You now have the same scent, yesterday Ames's scent was Iron Wood and Olneya, today is Cherry.” They both were looking at each other trying to believe. “Your, my soul mate.” It should be a question but it was a way for them to reaffirm what I said. “ You are mine.” Their smiles were shining. I look over the table. “Yesterday Keavy scent was Rose and Lychee and today is …” Brian interrupted “Plum.” I nod. “Keavy is my soulmate.” He had the biggest smile I have ever seen, “but how can that be possible, since kinder garden you have been saying that my scent is like Taya scent.” Doubting like he was too good to be true.

“Good morning my pack.” “e all snap our heads to an over happy Taya, coming down the stairs. “Wait, is that a Mate Mark?” Tory jumped from her seat and pointed at her neck. We all looked closer. She got marked.  “You got marked without Alpha Oscar's consent? Asli was looking at her with wide eyes.  “I got his consent even before the Ball.” Everyone stopped talking.  “Wait who is your mate?” I squinted my eyes at her, she did not. “Alec, of course, you are now looking at your future Luna.” We all gasped.

                “That is why their scents changed, you, ” pointing at her “marked another person mate.”

“And I marked her.” Alec came behind her putting his arms around her. “What is the problem here?”

“You two, made Asli and Brian move on to their second choices. Do you understand what you did? You broke the Bond.”  She just rolled on his arms. “I don’t give a s**t” gluing herself at Alec “ Alec and me are going to be Alpha and Luna of this pack. You will be gone by then, so is none of your business.”

I got up and close to her. “You don’t understand do you, Destined Mate makes the Alpha stronger, makes the pack stronger, you just destroyed it.” She just shrugged and Alec responded.  “I know what is best for the pack.” I looked really angry at these two. “No, you only know what is best for you, both of you are so obsessed with being Alpha and Luna, that you never think how your actions are going to affect the pack.” I was now screaming my lungs out.  “Aleena you better shut up. You are talking to your Luna now.” Alec put space between me and Taya. “Gladly not for long.”

“What is going on here?”  We look at the stairs, Alpha Oscar and Luna Marie were looking at our conversation.

“Aleena is disrespecting the future Luna.” Alec puts his arms around Taya like he owns the place.

“Aleena.” Annoyed by all. “It had to be you. I was expecting a quiet Breakfast.” I pointed at them. “He marked her when is Destined Mate is Asli and not Taya.” Alpha Oscar came near them looked proud at his son. “He can mark to be his Luna the girl he wants.” My mouth hangs open. “But.”  He looks at me. “No, but’s, he is the future Alpha of this pack and Taya is now the future Luna, they have my blessing, so no more talking about it.” Burning his eyes on me. “What did you gain with this?” I said taking a deep breath. “What did you say?” He started breathing deeply. “You had to gain something, you accepted just to spit on me, to tell me that Chosen Mates are better than Destined Mates?” He crossed his arms.  “I don’t need to go against a child, I know I am right.” I started making moves with my arms. “Do you understand that you broke the bond of the other two of your pack members with this decision?” Pointing at Brian and Asli. “That is not a problem, they will stay together and it’s all.”

                “No need for that Alpha Oscar.” Alpha Glen enters the conversation. “Seems that Brian and Asli, liked Keavy and Ames, so this way they all have their mates.” He looks beyond me to a rather calm Alpha Glen. “See, even Alpha Glen agrees with me.” I knew exactly what Alpha Glen was doing, he has been doing since the time of the Ball, he was protecting his pack.

“The only decision they must do now is Asli will come back with Ames and us to our pack.” Alpha Oscar squints his eyes at him. “I leave the choice to Brian to come with Keavy or stay in his pack without her. “ Alpha Oscar changes his position talking, “How come my pack members must go, why can’t they stay here?”

“By the laws, the female mate always goes to the Mate pack.” Calmly said. “Brian is my son Beta, and future Beta of my Son.” Looking at Brian.  “That is why I am leaving the decision to him. Keavy will not stay here with him.” All eyes were suddenly on Brian, and Brian was looking at me. Why I do not know, maybe he now understands.

“At what time do Lowlands Pack have to leave?” I aks not leaving my eyes from Brian. “Why are you asking?” Alpha Oscar looks sideways at me.  “This is all too much to take in, losing your mate, then being put another mate, and finally being able to stay with someone that can genuinely appreciate us.” I was looking directly at Brian, hoping he could get the hint. “We will leave after lunch, that should be enough time for a decision?” Luna Mikaela looking at Brian that just nod.

“What decision, Brian is not leaving this pack, my Beta.” Alec took one step forward, looking at Alpha Glen.  Brian just looked at Alec with sad eyes, he was now seeing his friend with other eyes. “If Keavy won’t stay, he can be mated to Aleena. That way she could still stay in the pack.” Brian eyes widen in that, then he looked at Keavy and saw fear and sadness in her eyes. Suddenly the urge to be with her and protect her was bigger than anything else. He stood up. Looked into Alec's eyes. “I will go with the Lowlands Pack. I maybe the Future Beta of this pack, but I will not risk my other half, for a position.” Alec went near him. “What? You are my best friend.” Alec just looked sad. “Friends don’t force each other to do things they don’t want.” He got up closer to Keavy and put his hand on her shoulder making her relaxed. “You will lose your position for some she-wolf, that is not even ranked.”

Alpha Glen started coughing making everyone attention to him. “We forgot to tell you all. Keavy is my first daughter.” We all open our mouths to him. “We have two beautiful daughters, Keavy and Liya.” I looked at the scene, Alpha daughters. “Meaning  Brian is going to be Alpha of the pack?” I forced myself to ask. “Yes. After training off course.”

“A Beta and an Alpha Daughter?” This time was Luna Marie's small scream of doubt. Alpha Glen looked at her. “Any problem with that?” Luna Mikaela gave her a piercing look.

“Since everything is decided, maybe the arrangements for Lowland Pack to leave can be done earlier.” Alpha Oscar's voice was firm. Did the Alpha just tell Alpha Glen to leave? All of us looked at both, tension was in the air. Luna Mikaela was still glaring at Luna Marie, urging her to say anything else.

“We leave after breakfast.” We see Alpha Glen's mind linking someone. Alpha Oscar had the biggest smile on his face like we just won some sort of battle, Luna Marie was all head down, not even looking at Luna Mikaela. I got to my seat and eat quietly, even the tension was getting on me.

After that, the Lowland Pack together with Asli and Brian got up, to gather their stuff. Brian's parents were surprised, to say the least, and gave him a few their thoughts, but let him leave with the girl he wanted, especially after that girl came to pick him up, and meet them. When they found that she was an Alpha Daughter, they rushed Brian to not let her waiting.

I was at Asli's door house with her, crying my eyes out, Lin was with us, crying in my brother's arms.  “Do not forget to call, message, write a letter, email.” I was saying between sobs. “Aleena, I will never forget any of you. Besides, probably in one year you can come and be with us.” I look at her with sadness.  “I can’t do that to Alpha Glen.”

“Why not?” Ames, that just got there to pick Asli up got near her, his arm around her shoulders, and I could see her relax in him. “Maybe is not good to go to an allied pack of ours, they might dare to break the alliance just because I am there.” Ames just looked at me, sad.

“We are all there for you, just cross the border and you will have shelter.” Two voices came from behind me.  “You don’t even need to wait the year, if anything happens, come to us.”  I looked back to Alpha Glen and Luna Mikaela, my eyes were crying again. I never felt that much love in my Alpha and Luna. I then saw my parents beside them.

“If the time comes. I trust my cousin to take care of you.” Father came to my side and hugged me. “Wait…. Cousin?” I look up to him.  “You may have forgotten, you were small the last time they were at our house, but Alpha Glen is your father's cousin. The Lowland Pack is where your father was born.” Mom said come to my side also. “Then how come you are here and not there?” Alan asked with an also curious Lin looking at us. “Because I was the only child of a family of gamma, the pack in those times did not have a lot of higher ranks, so my parents did not want me to go, and your father came to my side. “I look over to Alpha Glen. “Since you are cousins,” my eyes widen looking at my father, “did you knew all along?” Coffing “About Ginny? Yes, I was listening thru the Family mind link, you and our brother are not the only ones that can do that.”

I looked at Alan that had his mouth open. “We are not the unknowing parents, we supported you every way we could. Still, an Alpha order can’t be undone even for us.” Mom patted me on the back. “Then how come I don’t feel the urge to serve?” They all looked at me.

“Maybe your gift has something to do with it? Maybe the Moon Goddess knew that some Alpha would try to stop you and give you more power.” Alan was the first to break the silence.  “More power than an Alpha?” He nods. “That is the only thing that comes to my mind, that is why your wolf is bigger than all of us.”

Luna Mikaela was nodding also. “Yes, you are even bigger than me. Almost at the size of Glen.” Glen looked at his wife with an eyebrow up. “We went running, remember?” He seems to recall something.  “Yes, that day, you told me you found the most beautiful wolf. Nevertheless, whatever are the Moon Goddess plans are, you are always welcome at Lowlands Pack, even if it means breaking the pack with Lagoona Pack. We know when something is to be protected.”

I cried, and cried, my father and mother, giving me comfort, we said goodbye, they left to a new life.
