Chosen Mate Ball

We all got down to the hall, where a small podium was done, the Lowlands pack were arriving, this time the unmated wolfs were in the front row, and the families behind them and then the pack. We see Alpha Oscar got to the podium and Alpha Glen beside him, the podium had space for both, the Lunas stayed near the Alpha but not on the podium part. I saw that Luna Mikaela did not like the arrangement, she looked at Alpha Glen when they saw the podium, it was all for the Alphas, Lunas should be their equal and never stay in a position below, they stayed hands in hands all the time, reassuring her that he needed her. Our Luna only positioned herself in the place in a submissive pose. The difference in both Luna's attitudes was shocking.

“Lagoona Pack, we are here to start the Chosen Mate Ball with the dinner to promote the conversation to know each other better, this time we have the Lowlands pack with a few of its members. I expect everyone to behave and enjoy. Let the dinner begin.”

Alpha Oscar got down the podium and started walking being the first to enter the Ball Room where the tables are, the Luna behind him, then Alpha Glen, got down the podium, gave his hand to Luna Mikaela entering side by side.  After them we enter and go to our table, all the unmated wolfs are at a large table next to the Alphas table.

The dinner was normal, Ames was chatting with me trying to know me better, but only got the yes or no answer, then I think he got a mind link and stop, and started talking to Keavy that was on his other side. Sometimes I would feel the eyes of Luna Mikaela on me.

Before dessert, the music started in a dance tune, everyone was looking at Alpha Oscar to start the dancing ball. He came down the table with Luna behind him starting the dance with a slow. Alpha Glen, got up, went beside Luna Mikaela, did a bow and she gave him her hand to come to the dance floor, and they started dancing. The difference of both couples on the dance floor, Alpha Oscar was mechanical dancing, calculated steps, Alpha Glen was dancing with emotion after a while we all could hear Luna Mikaela laughing and having fun, then little by little couples started joining, and soon after Alpha Oscar gave his Luna to her father for them to dance, back at the Alpha table looking at everyone. He started looking at me with a large frown seeing that I was not dancing and that my mate was on the dance floor with Keavy.  I ignored him the best I could, then my brother that was dancing with Lin also deserved a few mad glances from the Alpha and eye daggers from Tory, came to fetch me to the dance floor.

“Come on Sis, at least enjoy and forget a little about everything else.”

I got up and was dancing with him and Lin, Asli also, and we four had a little fun, but I was always looking for someone, and I could not find her.

‘Please come.’

‘Don’t worry, when I catch her scent, I will tell you.’  Orianna reminded me.

After a while, everything calmed down, and the desserts were served.

‘She is here.’  I look up and try to find her. ‘Where?’ I can’t see her. ‘The scent is faint maybe she is in the tables outside.’ I try to look from the large windows that are open to accommodate everyone that is also outside.  ‘Can you tell if she is using the potion?’ I was hoping everything would turn out fine.  ‘Sorry can’t tell, we already know her scent so for me it seems the same.’

We hear the ring of a Bell announcing is time.

“Chosen Mate from Lagoona Pack come to the center.” As Alpha Oscar order we got up and formed a line at the center the way the mates were done.

“Chosen Mate from Lowland Pack come to the center.” As Alpha Glenn also orders they did a second row behind us, Ames came to my side.

“This is the most important part of this Chosen Mate Ball, the hour that you accept your Chosen Mate the one that will be forever with you, be your Wife, your Luna, your other half.” Alpa Oscar starts to talk making big gestures to show how important this is.

“Alpha Oscar, I have something to say before starting to accept my Mate.” Alan took a step forward.  “Allan this is not the place to interrupt me.” I could see the Alpha hands gripping the table as he leans forward to give the warning.  “I am sorry Alpha, but I must do this.”

“Allan, stay in your place.” The Alpha voice made everyone shiver in place.  I could see Allan fighting with his wolf to submit to Alpha Oscar's commands, but he got his head up, and went in front of Lin, got on his knees, Alpha Oscar was already fuming.

“Lin, I am in love with you since we were kids. When I found out that you are my Destined Mate, I was the happiest man in the world.”  Lin had her mouth open as she gasped and put her hands in her to cover when he got the little case out. “Will you give me the pleasure of becoming my wife, mate, partner for all eternity?” He looked at her, trembling from the effort of disobeying the Alpha order.  “Yes.” She said in a low voice trembling. “YES.” She screamed with happiness.  He got up, put the ring on her, and gave her a big kiss. Everyone into the crow started cheering and clapping their hands.

A Growl echoed the room. Everyone went silent. “Alan, you dare to disrespect your Alpha. “ Alpha Oscar was furious. “Alpha Oscar, she is my True Mate, to be with my other half the one that makes my heartbeat, yes.” Allan stood up, body trembling to block Lin out of the Alpha eye.  “I did not allow this.” Growling between his teeth. “I asked for your permission first.” Allan was scared but he was not backing away.  “You are to be mated with Tory, not Lin.” Alpha power in that sentence made everyone step back. Allan with pressure step forward the table.

“Lin is my destined mate, she is my other half, I will not mate another wolf only hers.” The power of believing in love and True Mates. “Still daring to face me?” Changing his posture to face me.  “This is all your fault, I told you to never bring that myth ever again.” Giving one step forward and getting closer to my brother.  “Is not a myth.”

Alpha Glen was trying to calm Alpha Oscar that was ready to shift and pounce on me, even his Luna was afraid of him, she did not dare to touch him.

“You are going to the cells now.”  Two guards came to each of my sides and grabbed me. My father came up to my side pushing one of the guards away. “Take the hands of my daughter.” I looked at him, my eyes started watering.

“Do not dare to disrespect me? I am the Alpha of this pack, if you want to lead you will have to fight me.” I could see his body trying to protect me, he was position to take any attack. “I do not wish to fight you Alpha, but I will protect my daughter, she did nothing wrong to be sent to the cells”. The shouting was heard everywhere, the windows to the outside packed with people trying to see what was going on. “She is a bad influence, with her stories about Destined Mates, we all know that after the war the Moon Goddess abandoned us.”

“Do not say that. It was our fault that we could not find true mates and not her, we isolated ourselves, we broke the bond by mating with others before it could even be recognized, it was our fault, not hers.” Whispers among the crowd were heard. “ You dare to say it was my fault?” If it was not for the guest's visits I would be long gone in the cells.  “No, it was all of us.” I open my arms to everyone, “ if I could prove to you that The Destined Mate Bond is not a Myth, will you let my brother stay with Lin?” Snarling at me.  “I know that is a Myth.”

Alpha Glen stood up talked calmly. “Then Alpha Oscar as nothing to lose.” Looking at the guest Alpha he smirks. Looks back at Aleena. “ How do you plan to prove it?” I raise my voice so everyone could hear.

“Call Pacey to come to the Ball Room.” His eyebrow stood up but he responded firmly. “Pacey is on patrol.” I match his voice. “I know, call him, only the Alpha of the pack as the power to mind link his warriors to the full extent of the pack.” He came around the table and stood in front of it looking at me. “What will calling Pacey here will prove?”

“That the True Mate Bond exists.” For people looking at us, the reason was of waiting for the moment the Alpha would kill me.  “He already had a Mate.” Mooking me.  “A Chosen Mate that died. His bond can be formed again for a second chance mate.” His hands got up in the hair as he started talking to everyone in the room.  “That is Ridiculous, first Destined Mates then Second Chance Mates.”

“Alpha Oscar, I am curious, why not call that Warrior Pacey? If the True Bond is not even real, he can come here, prove you are right, and then go back patrolling.” He took a glance at the other Alpha, frowning, trying to find out what does he want with this. “I will mind link Pacey to come here, but if nothing happens, you will spend a day in the cells with no food, and after you will go back with your Chosen Mate to his pack.”

“If I am right?” He snarled at me took a deep breath and spoke to me.  “I will let Alan and Lin become mates.”

“No, what about me?” Tory screamed from behind. We all ignore her.

“And?” He looks with angry eyes.  “And what? What could you possibly want more?” He spoke with arrogance.  “An apology for all the years you doubted me.” Growling, “I am an Alpha I will not bow to you child.”

“Then, make the mates the way I scent them.”

“WHAT???” Was a big scream coming from Taya, Talia, Brian, Alec, Alpha Oscar. “If I am right then Taya and Brian are True Mates, Alec and Asli, Tory and Lewis, Talia and Theo. Join them as mates. The pack will become stronger.” He walked near me a stood 2 feet away only. “Our pack is already stronger.” My father put his hand on my arm to push me aside in case something happens.

“I am Alec Mate, you could not take that away from me, I am the future Luna.” Taya started screaming.  “Taya not now.” Alpha Oscar raised his voice at her.  “But…” She got the look to shut up from him. “I will accept.” I smiled. “Good, let us mind link Pacey.” He got an eye brown up looking at me like suspecting me. We all could see him, mind linking someone.

The seconds started counting, those seconds turned into minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, and when it was about to hit 30 minutes.

“This is enough, not even Pacey believes is this nonsense, guards take her to the cells.”

The outside door opened, a run-down Pacey, with only a basketball short, claw marks all over his arms, a bite on in left side got in. Looking at him I gasp at the sight. I turned to the Alpha. “YOU MADE THEM ATTACK HIM?” I shouted while I started running near Pacey with my father behind me.  “YOU WANT SO BAD TO BE RIGHT, THAT YOU MADE YOUR PACK WARRIORS ATTACK ONE OF OUR ONE.” I continue shouting until I got there at the time Paceu fell on his knees.

“MATE” was heard all around the room, with a growl making everyone snap their head to the voice of a woman. Fuming thru the crowd was an angry Gloria. She got close to Pacey, and pushed everyone aside, including me, and hugged him.

“MINE. MATE.” Her voice was pure instinct, which made everyone recognize the Bond and stepped back giving them space. A run-down Pacey places his hands on her face making it turn to him. Everything about them changes, we all could see the Mate Bond forming. “Mate.” Respond with love.

“Gloria.” My father tries to reach her.  “MATE.MINE.” He nods. “Yes, but he needs to get treatment, go with him and the pack doctor to the pack hospital to get him treated.” Whining and still holding Pacey, a reluctant Gloria, gave space to the doctor, my father mind linked him the moment he saw Pacey. The pack doctor was waiting with a few helpers to pick him up, Gloria stands aside as she oversees them putting Pacey in a medical stretcher and went with him to the pack hospital. All the fury returns to my body the moment I saw Pacey going away, and I stomp down to the middle of the room in front of the Alpha table.

“Why are you so afraid of the Mate Bond?” I point at him. “I am not afraid, is a myth that weakens an Alpha, choosing our mates is the best way to keep the pack in order.” He still believes in that!

“Are you crazy, the Mate Bond makes the pack stronger.” I showed him.  “It was decided long ago, and we will maintain it that way. This proves nothing it was just a fling, something that will never happen again.” He discards everything that he saw with his eyes just moments ago.  “If you are so sure of that, postpone the Ball one more year.” I stood my ground, if this is a coincidence, what will happen next year to all the other mates.

“What?” He stood next to me making me so small near his size.  “Postpone the Ball one more year, next we will be 18. Our wolfs will recognize the Mate Bond, if the pairs I told you about do not recognize one another as mates, then you do as you please, but if they recognize, then you admit that the Destined Mate Bond exist, and we start doing a True Mate Ball at 18 with other packs.”  I was looking up to match him.  “That will prove nothing.” He turns back and walks to the table.

“What is wrong with delaying one year, even if the power couple was formed today, you will not be retiring for a few years to come, why not another year?” I push for his ego to make him agree.

With a big Growl to be heard all over. “The Chosen Mate Ball is over.” There was no way of refuting that command, everybody started leaving. Only the families and we stayed.  He turned again to face me.  “This is the last time you ever disobey an Alpha command, I will not back down my word.”

“But…” Taya was about to start whining to him.  Alpha Oscar just raised his hand.

“The Ball is delayed one year, that is also the time I give you to leave this pack, no matter the outcome of that Ball.” He then walked away, the Luna walked past us and gave us small smiles, I could sense her trembling in fear.         

 “You… “Taya came at me and started gesturing. “Had to ruin everything.” She turned and join Talia and a crying Tory. “I don’t have a mate.” Tory between sobs.  “Shut up, you can find another guy else were. I was supposed to be Luna.” Taya spits walking in front of them. “Aleena, sometimes you are better quiet.” Alec looks at me, turns running to Taya's side.

I started crying the pressure, the stress, got to me, my father came by my side and hugged me. I could see Lin's family came to her side and giving her congratulations, and my mother was already involved in preparations for next year.

“Dad?” I look up to him. “Yes, Sweety.” He continues to hug me.  I put my head on his chest looking sideways.  “Was I wrong?” He kissed me on the head.  “No sweetheart, no, you did what you think was best for everyone, and help a couple be together.” Tears were running on my face.  “Then why do I have to leave?” Hugging me strongly but gently he glanced to Alpha Glen and Luna Mikaela.

We all got back to our houses. It was a long night.
