I still couldn't shake the uncertainty from my mind, and the fact that I hadn't been able to figure out if Jake was really my boss was eating away at me. I needed answers, but I also needed to focus on my work and stop feeling like my personal life was blending too much with my professional life. So, determined to keep my mind occupied, I headed to Navarro's office, as Sofia had advised. Maybe he could give me something to focus on while I gathered information. After all, it was a way to feel useful, to disconnect from the constant fear that had been weighing on my chest.
I knocked softly on the door and waited to hear his permission to enter. Every second of waiting felt eternal, and my mind was filled with assumptions and frantic thoughts that I couldn't control.
