The Alpha's Moonlight

CHAPTER 6

Kane POV

Waking up to my alarm, I quickly turn it off and rub the sleep from my eyes. Standing from my bed I throw on some basketball shorts and head out to the training fields. Spotting Sean and Lucas, I head towards them.

Seeing me first Lucas calls out “hey Kane glad to see you’re finally up.” “I’m not that late” I retort. “I was just messing with you, what has you so agitated?” Sighing I answer, “Sorry, Onyx has been restless as of late and the dream I had last night did not help any it might have made it worse.” “You can tell us about it later after we’re done training” I nod to him and we start the training by running 100 laps around the field. Once everyone is done they pair up to start practicing. Sean, Lucas and I as well as the top male and female warriors go around and give tips and fix techniques helping them get better. After training is finished everyone heads back inside, and I head back to my room to take a quick shower before talking to my best friends. Once done I head towards my office and find the boys waiting for me.

As I sit Lucas jumps straight to the point "so what was your dream about? Was it the same one about your mate?" "Yes and no, it was about my mate, but this time it was different."

"How so?", Sean asks. "Usually I find her sitting on a beach or in a rainforest, but now she was waiting on the bank of the lake just outside our territory. It just has me thinking, could my mother be right. Could Alpha Kaiden's sister be my mate?"

"Why does your mom thinks that his sister is your mate?"he asks looking confused. "She believes that because out of all the new pack members she is the only one unmated." "Do you have any information about her?" Lucas pipes into the conversation. "None of her boxes have a name on them, instead they had a peace sign as a label and so did her car. Which just so happens to be one of my dream cars and I also peaked into her box if books and saw that we have some of the same tastes" I reply. "Well you will find out on Monday if your mother was correct since both packs go to the same school" Sean reminds us.

“Onyx is still restless, I think I will go on a run and see if that will at all”, I tell the boys and dismiss them to their duties. I head out to the back yard and shift into my jet black wolf and take off into the forest and give Onyx control. After a while of hunting and running Onyx gives me back control. Not wanting to head back to the pack house, I decided to check out the lake between mine and Hidden Moon’s border. Arriving at the lake I see nothing unusual, but something was telling me to be patient and wait. Hiding my scent I go sit in the shade near some bushes and watch the water.

After some time I hear rustling across the lake. Looking up I see the most beautiful girl with tan skin and platinum blond hair walk out of the forest and walk along the shore. Not long after she sits on the bank with her feet in the water and looks over the lake. I don’t know why she fascinates me so much, but I stay still as to not bring attention to myself and watch her and lose track of time.

A while later she stands up and walks back into the woods. I look up to the sky and notice it will be dark soon and run back to the pack house. Shifting back I walk into the house and smell dinner being prepared, so I run upstairs to my room for a quick shower.

Jumping out of the shower,I look in my bathroom mirror and notice my markings on my shoulder has changed again, but that doesn't make since seeing as I have not met my mate yet. Sitting on my bed, I think about the lesson the pack elders taught us about the mating process when I was fifteen.

*Flashback*

I walk into the small conference room with my friends and all the other fifteen year olds and take my seat. A few minutes later Elder Carol walks into the room and claps to get our attention. We all quiet down and give her our full attention.

"As you all know at some point in the next year each one of you will be able to start searching for your mate, but some of you might not know that the mating process starts on your sixteenth birthday even if you have not met your mate. Some of the stuff I will be going over you might already know because your parents have told you or you have a family member that has recently gone through this.

The first thing that will happen is that a small amount of your markings will show up. Telling others of your pack ranking or your mates ranking like if you are a future Luna. As you know both genders have two potential colors to show rank, can anyone tell me the colors and what they mean?" she asks the group.

Lucien raises his hand and she calls on him. Clearing his throat he answers " higher ranked males will have metallic gunmetal grey markings while everyone else will have black markings. And high ranking females will have silver as other she-wolves will have white markings."

"You are correct Mr. Banks. For Male wolves the placement of the markings is also important as Alpha's will have their's on the chest or arms. The rest will have them on their backs or legs. Ladies yours will appear on your hips/thighs, around your waist and up your rib cage, on your shoulders or running up your spine.

When the markings show up some may be larger than others, but that only indicates if your mate is or age yet or not. The larger marks indicate they are already sixteen and the smaller marks will grow when your mate has their sixteenth birthday. The first sign of someone being your mate is what Miss Thorn?” “Huh, the first sign is their unique intoxicating scent only you can smell.” Aubrey answers.”You are correct. After mates have found each other their markings will grow overtime with interaction. For Alphas, betas, and deltas as well as some high ranking warriors it can take between six months to a year for marking to become completed, and for all other wolves it can take between one and two years. After the markings are done growing your wolf will feel the need to bond fully by biting your mate and swapping blood, linking your lives to each other forever. Are there any questions?” she asks giving the floor to us.

“What if your mate is human?” asks Lucas. “That is a very good question Mr. Haynes. The mating process is more or less the same as having a wolf for a mate, but their marking will not show up until you are fully bonded. After bonding your mate will become a werewolf as well.” Elder Carol answers.

“My older sister said that being intimate with your each other was encouraged. Is she right?” one of the girls in the back asked. “Your sister is correct, but it is only encouraged with your mate and no one else. It also helps that you cannot become pregnant until your first heat after fully mating, and males cannot impregnate someone until being fully mated as well which is nice if your mate is human.”

“I thought I heard someone say that your makings will match your mates like a puzzle piece” Cora states. “You heard right . I’m sorry it must have slipped my mind earlier. Does anyone else have a question or need any clarification on anything else?”

*Flashback Over*

Tracing the metallic markings on my bicep that have crept slightly higher than they were this morning. With a smile on my face I get dressed and head down stairs to the main dining room. I stand from my seat and grab everyone's attention and say, “before we begin I have an announcement to make. The Hidden Moon Pack have a new Alpha, his name is Alpha Kaiden Shaw. I am telling you this because he and his other high ranking wolves will be attending school with us, so be respectful and kind to him and his Luna. on another note he has accepted the invitation to the back to school party we are throwing.” I sit back down and everyone starts to pile their plates with food.

After dinner I help clean in the kitchen and go down to the basement gym. Walking in I see Lucien, he is one of my top warriors, and walk over to him. “Do you want to go a round in the ring with me?” I ask. Nodding we walk over to the far end of the gym where the boxing ring and equipment are. Once I have my hands wrapped I grab my gloves and step into the ring. Lucien and I move into a fighting stance and start circling each other looking for weaknesses and an opening. I find an opening and make my first move rushing forward and throw a right hook, but he blocks the attack and pushes me back.

Re-finding my balance I pull my hands up to cover part of my face in a semi-crouch. As Lucien finds an opening he sends s jab my direction, at the same time I cross and hit him square in the jaw, sending him to the floor of the ring. I give him a few seconds to get back up and into an upright stance. Circling each other again I see a slight lag in his motions even though he has a look of determination in his eyes. I decide to end this quickly and throw an uppercut landing on his jaw, and send him sprawling on the floor. "Okay, I give you win" he tells me. I go over to him and help him off the ground. We exit the ring and put the equipment away.

Leaving the gym I stop by the kitchen and grab a bottle of water from the fridge before heading up to my room. Walking into my room I see Aubrey sitting on my couch.

"What do you want, and why are you in my room?" I ask as I walk over to her with a scowl on my face. “I noticed that you have been agitated recently and thought that I could help you relax a bit” she tells me in a seductive tone. I look at her in disgust and say, “I am fine, and what if your mate learned that you used to sneak into other men's rooms to try and seduce them into sleeping with you. NOW GET OUT AND NEVER ENTER MY ROOM AGAIN.” She quickly leaves the room and I head over to my bathroom and take a quick shower.

After getting out and drying off I go to bed and fall asleep thinking about the girl and the lake.
