Chapter 2

1715 Words
As he waited for his son Logan to show up, King Alex sat in his throne room and glanced out the window. His thoughts were so preoccupied that he scarcely noticed his minister approaching him. The minister said anxiously, "My Lord, is everything okay? King Alex exhaled deeply. I simply worry about Logan. He doesn't appear to be interested in being a valiant warrior or strong leader. Logan greeted his father and the minister as soon as he entered the room. "Father, what brings you here?" Logan questioned while attempting to mask his anxiety. The king stated sharply, "I am worried about your future as the successor to the throne. Knowing that this was a talk he didn't want to have, Logan stiffened up. He was familiar with everything. Logan, you have disappointed me. I worry that you won't be able to govern Albion because you've shown no desire to be a formidable warrior or leader. Logan felt bad about disappointing his father and lowered his head in shame. But then King Alex lowered his voice. "However, there is still time to make a difference. Logan, you have what it takes to be a great leader. To succeed, all you have to do is discover your passion and put in a lot of effort. Logan paid close attention when he heard a spark of optimism. Never before had he experienced his father speaking to him in this manner. "Logan, take some time to consider your goals for the future, and always keep in mind that I am here to help you”, King Alex stated with a comforting grin. Knowing that his father continued to have faith in him, he let Logan leave the room feeling a little lighter. He was appreciative of the guidance and inspiration his father had provided him, and he was aware that he would have to put in a lot of effort to establish his rightful place as the heir to the kingdom. *** Logan went inside his room, a burning fire of frustration and rage inside of him. He could still clearly recall his father's scolding and disapproving attitude. He closed the door behind him and made his way to his bed while clenching his hands firmly. His breathing was laboured and irregular as he sat on the edge of the bed. He believed he had let his father and his kingdom down, and he felt inadequate. It was nearly suffocating to feel the weight of the duty he would soon have to shoulder. He seized the nearest item, a vase on a neighbouring table, and threw it across the room in a fit of rage. As it collided with the wall, it broke into a million pieces. Logan didn't stop there; he continued tossing everything in his reach, including books, pillows, and even his own clothes. His fury progressively subsided as he kept scattering objects around the room, and was eventually replaced with a sense of peace. His breathing evened out, and his limbs began to feel heavy and sleepy as he dropped onto the bed. Logan examined the harm he had done while having a fleeting regret over his outburst. However, he also experienced an odd sense of relief, as if all the suppressed feelings that had been depressing him had been released. He tried to relax by lying down on the bed with his eyes closed. He was aware that in order to impress his father and his kingdom, he needed to get his act together. But for now, all he needed to do was rest and recover so he could face the difficulties that lay ahead. *** There was a flurry of activity in the training camp, and the sound of crashing swords reverberated across space. The warriors' leader, Aaron, was instructing the soldiers on the right posture and movement. Logan showed up as he was lecturing, looking intent on honing his fighting techniques. Good to see you, Logan. Logan, you're just in time for our practice', Aaron replied, nodding. "Aaron, thank you. If I want to be a respectable heir to the throne, I need to work on my fighting abilities," Logan retorted. "Sure, that. Who would you like to fight?" Aaron enquired as he looked over the warriors. Logan retorted, "I need someone strong to fight with." Aaron nodded while scanning the area. He stepped forward and said, "I'll fight with you”. Logan gave him a dubious glance. "Are you sure that's what you want to do? I'm not trying to injure you," he smirked. Aaron laughed. Logan, don't be concerned about me. Just let's see what you're capable of. The two men faced each other, swords drawn. As soon as the fight started, Aaron swiftly took the lead. Logan was obviously outmatched as he fell back from Aaron's blows. Logan, on the other hand, started to catch up on Aaron's strategies as the fight went on and started to counter them. Logan began to have the upper hand, and the struggle became more intense. Logan's unexpected improvement caught Aaron off guard, but he didn't go down without a fight. The other warriors stopped to observe as the two men engaged in a fierce sword battle. The minister, who was a spectator at the fight, watched Logan's advancement with great interest. He was happy to see Logan putting up a solid battle against Aaron and gradually developing his fighting prowess. The minister watched as Logan continued to maneuver his opponent rather than relying solely on his physical might as the fight went on. Aaron was amazed at Logan's abilities and commended him on his development after the fight. The minister also stood up to express his admiration. "Congratulations, Prince Logan. He nodded in agreement and continued, "Your sword combat skills have really improved. Logan expressed his gratitude to them both with a sense of satisfaction and success. He experienced a brief moment of hope that he would one day succeed his father as the rightful successor to the throne. He vowed to continue his training and develop into a competent warrior like his brother Jean with newfound tenacity. *** The wind blew through the hair of Logan and Boris as they rode their horses down the cobblestone lane. As the villagers passed by, Logan couldn't help but smile at them as they appeared to be all praising him for winning the training camp. Logan added, still feeling a sense of pleasure in his success, "I can't believe I actually won. Boris smiled reassuringly and said, "Well, I knew you had it in you. Yes, but I couldn't have done it without your assistance, Logan said with a smile. Boris, you've always been there for me. Logan, of course. "Boris nodded. We had known one other since we were little. I'll be here for you at all times. Logan inhaled deeply, feeling appreciative of Boris' companionship. "I feel like I'm not good enough sometimes. I know I'll never meet my father's standards. Logan felt Boris' hand on his shoulder and said, "Hey, stop talking like that. You're a noble man and a superb warrior. Just let your father know that. Logan nodded as his mood improved a little. I'm grateful, Boris. Without you, I don't know what I would do. Let's hope you never have to find out, Boris said with a smile. Let's continue biking now. Who knows what additional experiences lie ahead for us. They suddenly heard someone yell Logan's name. Aaron, the formidable warrior Logan had vanquished at the training camp, was there. "Logan! Congratulations on your victory!" While approaching on his own horse, Aaron yelled. Thanks, Aaron," said Logan with a smile. Although it was a difficult battle, I'm glad I prevailed. You startled us all with your new movements, Aaron said with a chuckle. I must admit, I didn't anticipate that. Logan has been working really hard on his practise, said Boris. He's committed to excelling. That's good, Aaron nodded. We require more fighters like him. Logan, would you want to accompany us to the tavern, please? It would be lovely to have you there as we celebrate tonight. After a brief moment of hesitation, Logan grinned and said, "Sure, why not? It sounds enjoyable. "Great!" said Boris with a smile. Then, let's leave. The three of them then departed in pursuit of the tavern, eager for a night of celebration and companionship. *** Rayna sat in her room's window seat and took in the lovely scene of the palace gardens. Regarding the mission that her husband, Jean, was about to set out on, she couldn't help but feel anxious. She was aware that the trek was perilous and full of unknown threats. She was startled out of her reverie as her friend Isabel walked into the room. She noticed Rayna's anxious look on her face and inquired, "What's on your mind, Rayna?" Rayna turned to face her companion and announced, "It's Jean." I'm worried about him because he's going to embark on a perilous quest. Isabel sat down next to her and put her shoulder in her lap. "I get it, Rayna. But you have to believe in Jean. He is a smart commander and a skilled fighter. He is skilled at what he does. I am aware, but what if he is injured? Rayna questioned while shaking with fright. Isabel gave her companion a comforting grin and replied, "Then we'll deal with it when the time comes. But in the interim, we must put our faith in Jean and his skills. Rayna nodded as she felt a little bit better. "Isabel, you're correct. All I have to do is trust him. Isabel gave her shoulder a light squeeze. Moreover, you have my backing. No matter what, you can count on both of us. Rayna grinned in appreciation for her friend's generosity. "I'm grateful, Isabel. Without you, I don't know what I would do. Well, you don't need to worry about that, Isabel said with a smile. Remember that we are buddies for life? Rayna nodded as she experienced a wave of consolation and relief. She was confident that her friend would be there for her no matter what. And that was sufficient to give her the courage to meet the challenges that lay ahead.
