I grabbed some cookies and placed them in front of Eva before I sat down to listen to Mr. Gold talk about her. I took my seat at the table next to her.
“It’s okay to talk about this, you know, in front of her?” I asked, watching Eva munch on a cookie.
“Yeah, my little girl is special,” he said, a gleam in his eye as he looked at Eva.
“I’m special,” Eva mumbled with cookies in her mouth.
I smiled at her. “Yes, you are,” I said.
“As you might have noticed, Eva is younger than her brothers, but she’s also not a twin,” Mr. Gold told me.
“I didn’t notice the twin part with her, but it’s obvious that she is younger,” I replied.
