Where am I?
I wake up feeling an overwhelming sense of comfort. Silk sheets? A warm, bright light escaping through the crack of blackout curtains shining onto my face. Rubbing my eyes and looking around… This room is massive! But from what I can see it’s an empty room with just the bed and me with luxurious white blackout curtains and a dark glossy floor. A sinking feeling enters my stomach when I quickly realise I do not recognise where I am…but I’m alone in a room I feel so small in.
Looking down at myself made me even more confused. To see myself in a short, pearl coloured, silky nightgown. My legs are smooth? My long hair is styled in loose curls? My fingers and toes are perfectly manicured. Is this a dream? Because this is not something I would do…it was like prom night all over again. Only I’m 20. Okay my memory is coming back, good.
My name is Angelika Beck. I’m in my second year of uni and I live with my boyfriend! My eyes open wide and I gasp. Did I get drunk and have a one-night stand?! Wait…that’s not possible, I don’t party or go to bars. Last thing I remember was, that I was pulling an all-nighter for an exam that I have today?! Wait! What time is it?? Looking for a clock around the dark, majestic room to see not one in sight.
It’s time to get up. I need answers. Whosever jeopardising my degree will pay! Creeping on the cold, smooth tiles, walking towards one of the windows because I see no door. I look outside to see a never ending green field that meets the skyline and a bush maze close to the building I am in. I am a couple stories off the ground. I see a good bit of people walking around. I can tell I'm still in my country, Germany, because of the distinct look of my people. They're wearing similar clothes from one another and of all the same off white colour. Are those housekeepers?
Turning around I see that what the bed head was against was a centre wall? With two sides to it. Walking through one of the arched entrances I see a door and decided to pick up my pace towards the door. Ready to grasp it, to swing it open to no avail. The damn thing was locked!
Am I being held hostage? What was going on? I’m not rich. I come from a single mother who’s a high school teacher. Where the hell am I??! Panic ensues when I've come to the conclusion that I'm helpless, lost and afraid. I slide my back onto the wall, next to the door, huddled. My bare ass on the freezing, expensive ground. Waiting...waiting for this large door to bust open...I want out. But I'm afraid to see what will happen next. Who took me out of the life I knew of?
