Chapter 7: Anna

"f**k!!!" Lara said loudly with surprise written on her face "You are in serious trouble" she said this time laughing which just made me frustrated

"What is wrong with you" I said looking at her angrily, she seems to have noticed i was serious because immediately she stopped laughing "Sorry" she said now smiling trying to suppress her laughter

"I just faced my new boss sorry our boss because if you think of it is our boss" I said pointing at both of us maybe to clarify the air because she is too dumb and this seems to her understand what I’m saying because her face expression changed

“Ohh that’s true, we are actually done for” she said with a concerned face and then again started laughing a bit again “But if u think of you, the way James was beaten up is really funny”

Ok yeah that was actually funny and I joined her to laugh “With the way he used to carry himself up before that no man can mess with him” I said while laughing which made Lara laugh louder too with me.

Then I said after some seconds of laughing “But let’s be serious, we are big soup mostly me” I paused a little then continued “How would I face him tomorrow” she grabbing Lara shoulder with my both hands and shake her to maybe wake her up so that she can see the trouble I am really in

“We can’t do anything now, let’s just hope tomorrow will be good” she said trying to calm me down

Then she stood up from the couch and pushed me up too and started pushing me to my bedroom while I was pretending to cry by making crying noises.

When we got to my room, she faced and said “See don’t overthink this too much. You did not do anything wrong. Did he insulted you outside? No, just leave it. Just act normal when you see him tomorrow”

Then I pouted my lips “Im just worried”

“Don’t worry babe, everything will be alright” then she opened the door for me and pushed me in, locking it back before I could say anything

I can do this, Lara just said it, nothing will happen tomorrow, it will be just like nothing happened.

And then I changed my clothes to something comfy and went to bed to sleep.

The Next Day

I woke up by the sound of alarm blaring loudly and when I checked the time, it is 6am, thank goodness I didn’t sleep through the alarm.

I immediately got up to take my bath and prepare for work today.

By 7, I was already done and when I went to the kitchen to prepare toast for my little breakfast, surprisingly I saw Lara putting maple syrup on pancakes.

“Wow babe, what happen? What’s the occasion? Cause I know you hardly prepare breakfast by this time” I said grabbing a fork from the cabinet and start digging in without asking her if I can.

“I just wanted to do something for you, is it bad?” She said cleaning the kitchen sink “and to prepare for the day”

I could feel her smile from here

“You know this is your fault right” I said with a full stuffed mouth of pancake

“I know and that is why I want you to eat well to prepare for the day” I said still cleaning the sink for hours now.

I just kept quiet and ate, after eating, the time was already 7:20, luckily our apartment is not far from the company.

So I stood up, told Lara goodbye and left the apartment without even washing the plate I used to eat with.

By 7:55, I got to the company. Immediately I ran to the elevator, because Mrs. Linda warned me that boss hate lateness and that if I come one minute pass 8, he will fire me, and I know that is not an exaggeration or lie. Luckily I got to his floor by 7:59, thank goodness.

When I got there, I saw Mrs. Linda already in her office so of course Mr. Ethan is already on desk.

As Mrs. Linda instructed, I should always go to the boss office every morning to say the day’s schedule.

So I dropped my bag on my desk at the left of the room and went to Mrs. Linda’s office.

“Good morning ma’am” I said bowing a little in greetings

“You made it just in time” I said busy typing something on her computer

“Yes ma’am and what ..”

“Stop calling ma’am, I told you before, you can call me Linda” she said interrupting me and now looking straight at me with a smile.

She is always smiling, why?

“Sorry Linda” I said which made her giggle “and I need the schedule so that I can report to Mr. Ethan”

“Ohh that’s true, take” she said giving me a document, I collected it, said thank you and left immediately.

I knocked on his door lightly, and after waiting for a few seconds, I heard him say come in.

When I went in, I saw him standing at his big ceiling to floor window, looking at the city while he was talking to someone on his phone not bothering to look at who just entered.

I stood for minutes with him not acknowledging my presence at all, he just kept on speaking

After some minutes, he finally cut the call and looked at my direction not saying anything and just sat down.

“Good morning sir” I said only receiving a nod from him

“This is the schedule of the day” I said and started listing schedule for him while he sat there now busy on his computer without saying anything

“And that is all, sir” I said after I done

“Ok, thank you, you can leave now” he said not even looking up and I left immediately.

And when I got to his door so that I can leave, someone opened the door before I could.

And surprisingly, it was Ethan’s sister that opened the door.

Why!!!!!???? When I thought the day will go smoothly
