“Got a case for you two to look into,” Captain Reynolds said, dropping a file onto my desk. “MacKellar Cove Inn had a break in last night. Mrs. Holbrook was pretty shaken up. She said she heard the noise and went to see what was going on and must have scared them off. She has video cameras but she doesn’t know how to send us the footage. Need you to go talk to her and get everything.”
I nodded. Mrs. Holbrook owned the Inn forever. I couldn’t remember anyone else being there. It sat opposite the MacKellar home at the entrance to the Cove. The two properties were the biggest structures in town, and both had been there longer than anything else. The rest of the town was built to support the families that built the homes.
