My time at the community center was quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of my week. Knowing that I was giving the kids something different to focus on for a few minutes was exciting for me and helped me to see how easy it was to give back, especially to kids.
I’d just finished setting up everything for the day when Amelia walked up on stage. Typically, she let me in and went about her business, so for her to approach me, I wondered what was going on.
“I’ve heard good things about your projects,” she said, looking across the tables. “It sounds like the kids are enjoying it.”
“I think they are. They’re a lot of fun to work with.”
