CHAPTER FOUR

AXEL’S P.O.V I watched Raymond from a distance as he walked into the Bloodmoon compound, he looked lost in his thoughts. He didn’t even see Feiyr or acknowledge the guard until he walked into him. “Alpha Raymond!” Feiyr said, letting Raymond walk into him as he pulled Raymond from his trance. “Feiyr! Sorry, I didn’t see you. Is there a problem?” Raymond asked as he regained his composure. “Alpha Axel has been asking about you. Apparently there’s an important meeting that requires your presence. I told him you were out sorting out some things, and he instructed me to inform you as soon as you get back.” Feiyr said. “Thank you, Feiyr. Where is this meeting holding?” Raymond asked. “On the left wing hall.” Feiyr answered, bowing as Raymond thanked him and rushed to the meeting. I was already seated when Raymond walked into the hall dressed in black jeans and a black tee. “I’m sorry I’m late; I had some personal issues to take care of.” Raymond apologized to everyone, taking his seat on my left-hand side. “So, what happened in my absence?” Raymond asked. “Well, we decided to wait until you arrived before we started this meeting.” Oscar, my beta said. “Well, thank you, and I do apologize for keeping everyone waiting.” Raymond apologized again. “Well, now that all of us are here, can we start this meeting now? I have a wife to get back to.” I said, picking his nails, uninterested about anything that was going on. “Well, that’s exactly what this meeting is about; it’s about your wife.” Elder Scott said, watching me in case I got offended. “My wife? Since when did Megan become a topic of discussion? She just arrived!” I laughed. “Exactly! That’s exactly the problem. She seems to just have appeared out of thin air!” Yasmine raised her voice at me, she sounded very frustrated. Raymond sent warning stares at his mate, telling her to calm down. “What?” Yasmine mouthed angrily at Raymond. Raymond simply shook his head, telling his mate what she was doing wasn’t how to go about the issue. “And so what if she appeared out of thin air? She’s my new mate and wife, and you will give her the respect and loyalty she deserves.” I banged my fist on the table and got up to leave. “This meeting is over.” I walked to the door, and just before I could touch the handle and leave, Elder Amaya spoke up. “If you walk out of this meeting, we would have no choice but to question your loyalty to this pack and your fitness to be our alpha. And you know once these questions arise and are brought before other pack members—well, you know what that means for your position as alpha of the Blood Moon pack.” Elder Amaya said uninterestedly. I laughed and turned back to face the council. “Are you threatening me?” my voice exploded through the room. “Axel, if I were threatening you, you won’t be standing there with your head on your shoulders. So, be a good nephew and sit through this meeting.” Elder Amaya said. I walked back to my seat, chuckling. I sat down and pointed a finger at Elder Amaya. “Tell me, auntie, even if you were to take away my position as alpha of this pack, who would you hand it to?” I questioned, sending my aunt death glares. The hall was silent, and nobody said anything. I looked from face to face. Some people looked away in fear, others stared right back at me, and some didn’t pay me any attention. “Well?! No one is going to take up the position of alpha of this pack." I shouted, banging my fist on the table and cracking the wooden furniture. Raymond looked to his mate, and Yasmine nodded, urging her mate to stand up and speak. Raymond stood up, and I looked at my brother in shock. “Since no one would call you out on your stupidity, I will. I will become the...” Before Raymond could finish his sentence, Feiyr burst into the hall. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but we are under attack. The Iron Claws have breached our borders, and they seem to be coming to wage war!” Feiyr said, panting heavily. “This meeting is adjourned. Everyone get ready to defend this pack. Feiyr, follow me.” I said, standing up. “Don’t think I’ve forgotten what you tried to do. We’ll talk about that when the pack is safe.” I whispered into Raymond's ear as I walked out the hall with Feiyr. I and Feiyr moved to the guard post to meet the alpha of the Iron Claws. “Axel, long time no see! How are you doing?” The alpha of the Iron Claws said happily, wiping the blood from his lips and smiling maniacally. “Learn to put on clothes, Zayne.” I scoffed, rolling my eyes at the naked alpha of the Iron Claw pack. “We are wolves; clothes have never been part of our lifestyle. And by the way, Feiyr, your mate had a very good taste; I think she was pregnant. Oops, did I spoil the surprise?” Zayne laughed wickedly, showing Feiyr the necklace he had ripped from his mate’s dead body. “You bastard!” Feiyr screamed, about to jump down from the post and charge straight at Zayne. I held Feiyr back. “Don’t be stupid; I can’t have my head guard die before the battle even starts. I can still feel Felicia in my mind; she’s not dead. He’s just trying to rile you up.” I said, trying to calm Feiyr. Feiyr calmed down and apologized. “I apologize, Alpha Axel.” “Don’t be sorry; do better, Feiyr.” I scolded my head guard. “Yes alpha.” Feiyr apologized and kept his head down. I moved my attention to Zayne. “What do you want, you psychopath?” I asked, uninterested and unwilling to deal with Zayne’s attitude. “Oh, straight to business. I like that.” Zayne smiled. “What I want is simple, Axel, I want your head!” Zayne smiled wickedly. “You’ll have to rip it off my dead body.” I spat at the psychotic alpha. “With pleasure.” Zayne smiled, signaling for his pack to charge forward. The Iron Crest wolves ran towards our boarder, passing through the magical barrier with no consequences. “How are they getting past our barrier like it’s nothing?" Elder Amaya asked, worried that a full-on war was about to erupt. “Get me Willow and her moon ladies, now!” I ordered. Willow and her girls arrived before Feiyr could go and fetch them. “I don’t need you to tell me once someone tampers with my spell.” Willow said, observing the situation from the post. “What do you need us to do, Willow?” I asked Willow, ready to defend my pack. “Kill as many of them as you can, but no one from the Blood Moon pack crosses the barrier. I need at least thirty minutes to fix this rat infestation.” Willow said, flicking her fingers at one of the Iron Claw wolves, turning the wolf into a pile of red mush. “You heard Willow! Kill them all but remain inside the barrier! Go!” I ordered, watching as my pack members jumped from the guard posts, shifting to their wolf forms and instantly drawing blood.
