FRANCESCA’S P.O.V Axel took a second glance at Megan and smiled. “I’ll marry you.” Axel said, walking towards Megan. “Axel?! You’re joking, right?” I screamed, staring at Axel in disbelief, trying my best not to burst out crying. “I’m sorry, Francesca; she’s carrying my child. I have to do this.” Axel said, taking Megan’s hand in his. “I’m carrying your child too!” I screamed, tears rolling down my cheeks. Axel let out a loud, deep laugh. “It’s not like you’re going to be able to have the baby, Francesca. Darrian told me you could have lost it when you had your big emergency. There’s almost no chance you’ll go through this pregnancy without a miscarriage.” Axel laughed, grabbing Megan by the waist and planting a kiss on her lips. I looked to Darrian in the crowd, my eyes glossy from the tears I was trying so desperately to hold back. “Is this true?” I asked the healer. Darrian nodded his head in shame. He had told Axel, but he didn’t mean Axel should abandon me for the next woman who claimed to be carrying his child! “So I’m not going to be able to birth my baby?” I asked, the tears in my eyes fighting so desperately to be set free. “No,” Darrian mouthed. I couldn’t hold myself back. I let all the hot tears burst forth. I stood there watching the man who had professed his undying love to me for the past two years kiss another woman. “Where did I go wrong? What could I possibly have done to you, Axel?” I asked, my voice broken with sobs. “I don’t want a woman who can’t give me a child. I want my legacy to continue after me. I can’t be with you, Francesca; you’re of no use to me.” Axel shrugged, pulling Megan closer to him and rubbing her belly lovingly. I looked around, begging anyone to talk some sense into Axel, but no one stood up to defend me; they couldn’t. Axel was the primary alpha, and standing up to him meant dire consequences. I looked from face to face to the people who have called me Luna. They shared my pain, but there was nothing they could do. Everyone was troubled by what had just transpired, everyone except Raymond. Raymond was grinning from ear to ear; he was happy that I would finally leave his family. “I hope you have a happy married life.” I smiled at Megan and Axel. “Thank you, honey.” Megan laughed, blowing a kiss at me and waving goodbye to me. I ran out of the hall, my eyes blinded by the hot tears that were flowing like a waterfall. Starr followed swiftly behind me. Starr followed me to the dressing room, where I started packing my things into some boxes. “Luna, please stop.” Starr stood at the door frame, scared to stop me. “Please, Luna, stop. You just need to breathe and think properly; you’re not thinking properly. Please.” Starr’s pleas fell on deaf ears because I didn’t stop packing. “Francesca!” Starr screamed, stopping me in my frenzy. I looked up at Starr, tears glossing both our eyes. “Please, you can’t just leave; you have to think about this. I know this is a shock to you; it’s a shock to us all, but upping and leaving isn’t the best choice now. You have to fight for your pack.” Starr begged me. “I do not care.” I said through clenched teeth before zipping my boxes and pushing myself past a crying Starr. I walked past the great hall; I could feel the stares on me, but I didn’t look back. If Axel could throw away the relationship we had built for so long, then I had every right to walk away with my head held up high. I stood by the gate of what would have been my marital home. I looked down the streets of Raven’s Peak; this was where I had grown up; my whole life was here! “Can I really just walk away from the only home I’ve ever had?” I whispered to myself, my eyes filled with tears again. “No, Axel made his choice, and he chose that slut over me. I deserve better.” I comforted myself, wiping my tears and hailing a taxi. "Afternoon, miss, where are you going today?” The taxi driver greeted me with a smile while loading my luggage into his trunk. “Anywhere that’s far away from Raven’s Peak.” I replied, throwing myself into the back of the taxi. ______________________ As the taxi drove out of Raven's Peak, I began to cry silently. I didn't understand what had come over Axel that he would abandon me and his baby for a randomw woman. I began contemplating if leaving was the right decision. “Maybe Start was right. Maybe I should have stayed and fought.” I said to myself. “No,” I shook my head. “This is what's best for me. Axel made his choice, this is mine.” The taxi driver took me all the way to the city and recommend a good hotel for me. I thanked him and paid him off after he helped me carry my luggage to the reception. “Good evening ma'am. Welcome to The Yellow Bird, hotel. How can we be of service?” A blonde lady with a wide smile said. “Evening…Isis.” I read her name tag. “I would like a room, nothing fancy, just a self con.” I said to the receptionist. “Alright. Please follow me and I'll take you to your room.” Isis smiled, as she grabbed a key from behind her and walked towards the stairs. She gave me a room on the first floor because the ground floor was fulla dnshe didn't want me climbing too many stairs because of my pregnancy. “If there's anything you need, just ring us and we would do our best to help you.” Isis said, handing me my keys and helping the trolley boy with my bags. “Thank you, Isis, and good night.” I smiled, handing her two ten dollar bills as tips for her and the trolley boy. Isis smiled and left me to my new room. I had a bath, and settled down to sleep, I didn't feel hungry so I just skipped dinner. I switched on the television to watch something and get my mind off Axel and Megan and I was lost in the show for a while until I heard noises. “Hello? Who is there?” I asked, lowering the volume of my show. “Isis, is that you?” But there was no reply and the noise became louder. I wasn't on the mood for games so I got off the bed to check where the noise was coming from. As I walked into the living room, a man climed onto the balcony, pointing a gun at me. “Don't take another step or I'm calling security!” I warned the masked man, stepping out of his shot view. “You won't do that, Francesca. I know you're a werewolf. You can take me on.” The masked man laugh, pointing his fun at me again. I bared my teeth, and let out a low growl. “I'm glad you know what I can do to you. Now, who sent you?” I asked the masked man. He laughed, waving his gun around carelessly. “You're a werewolf, not a god. And a silver bullet can do horrible things to a werewolf.” The smiled, pointing the gun at me. I raised my hands slowly. “What do you want fr om me?”
