My dreams were not nightmares, they were filled with the man named Adriel. A sweet kiss under a tree started the dream, we were by a lake running and chasing each other. He pinned me against a tree and kissed me softly. Amaya was dying to get out. I would love for her to enjoy his wolf, but I was not sure why he didn't shift.
A part of me was greedy and didn't want to share him with Amaya and she was a pouting brat. This was absolute heaven. I jumped into his arms and planted another kiss on his soft lips, he stumbled from my sudden action and into the lake we fell. When my body hit the cold water, I woke up.
I hoped this wasn't a dream, Adriel could not just be a man in my dreams.
I sat up and I was still in the small cabin. There was a small pot on the kitchen table, something smelled delicious and I was starving. I moved my legs to stand and I was still sore. My face still hurt. I was not healing as fast as I normally would. I grabbed the small bowl that was left for me and scooped what looked like an oatmeal into the bowl.
I was not sure what this was, but it tasted amazing. There were biscuits on the table with some butter next to it. Mmm.....this was what I needed. I would definitely get strength from the food. My lips burned just a little from the food. It was hot and warming my insides.
Adriel walked through the door and smiled when he saw me. Thank Goddess he was real life!
"I am glad you found the food I left you." he said, sitting across the table from me. I felt the pain of wanting him to be next to me and not across from me.
"It is really good, I am not sure what it is though." I told him between bites.
"I am not sure, but my mother has been making it for me my whole life. She said it is what you need when you do not feel well." he said.
"Oh, your mother knows I am here with you?" I ask.
"The whole pack knows you are here with me, some people cannot wait to meet you. My mother has been waiting for the day I found my mate." he laughed.
That made me giggle.
"Where were you this morning?" I asked him.
"We take turns patrolling, I have early mornings. I let the men who have children eat breakfast with them." he said.
He was so kind. My mother would like a man who was about family.
"Tell me about yourself." he said.
"Well, I am 18 years old and I come from the Pearl Moon pack. My father Michael, is the Alpha and my mother Serena, the Luna. I have one brother, who is named Michael Jr. He is away for the time studying at the university. I am currently doing my warrior and Luna training. There really isn't a lot to tell." I explain.
"I have not heard of a Pearl Moon pack. Is your pack new to this area?" he asked.
"No, I think we have been here for a while. I am not sure about the time. I haven't started the history of our pack lessons yet. It had to be over 100 years, at least." I replied.
I was not sure how he didn't know about our pack. It was one of the biggest in our area. The next biggest pack was the Redwood pack.
"What pack did you say you live with?" I asked.
"I will tell you about myself. I am 22 years old. I am in the Blackwater pack. I am the son of Alpha Chayton and Luna Kai. I am the oldest of 5. My father has two other wives that have two kids each. I am the only one from Kai. My mother allowed my father to take on more wives to expand our pack. We are not very big, maybe 100 people. Our pack migrated south into this territory when our lands started to be harvested for towns. We lost many people during the migration. They wanted to live in other areas and my father understood. My father is older and tired. He is ready to rest and give me the pack. My mother is younger than him, but wiser." he laughed.
I have not heard of Alphas marrying extra women in recent times. That was an old practice. My mother told me sometimes an Alpha would take more women against their will, but I have never heard of anyone like that in our area.
"Your mother allowed him to marry other women?" I asked.
"Yes, my birth was painful for my mother. I was born under a blue moon and the birth left my mother weak. She said it was because my wolf was strong. The midwife said my mother shouldn't have any more children for her health. My father was afraid to lose her. He was fine with never having another child, but my mother wasn't. She explained to him that it was his duty as Alpha to have many offspring. She granted him permission to find other wives. He needed a strong line. Our pack needed to live on forever. Even though my father is the Alpha, he listened to my mother. She knows what needs to be done with our pack." he said.
"I was born under the blue moon, too. My birth was difficult for my mother. She always told me that was why my eyes were the color blue they are. She said it was the same color as the moon that night. A gift from the Goddess!" I said, a tear formed at the thought of my mother. A new thought crossed my mind instantly.
I was not sure if I could ever share my mate with another woman. The thought made me upset.
"Do not worry, I do not want other wives." he laughed.
I blushed from him knowing what I was thinking.
"I had the women wash your clothes for you. I am sorry, but I do not have anything for you to wear. There is a trading post not far from here, when you are ready we can go there and find you something else to wear." he said.
Trading post? I was sure he meant a city with stores or something like that.
I moved towards my clothes and grabbed them. They smelled so fresh and clean. I could smell him on the clothes. I would never get tired of his smell.
"You can change and I will take you to meet the pack." he said. He didn't move from the chair he sat in, but his eyes looked towards the floor.
I pulled on the yoga pants under the night gown. I turned my back to him. He was putting the bowl and wooden spoon together and fixing it. He was trying not to look at me. I pulled the night gown over my head exposing my bare back to him. I could feel his hot gaze upon me. There was heat between us.
I turned my head to catch a glimpse of him looking at my back. I smiled at him and he looked at the floor again. I pulled the shirt over my head and slowly pulled it down. I bent down to pull my shoes out from under the bed. I slipped them on and turned towards him. He was quickly in front of me.
He looked into my eyes deeply. His hands were on my shoulders. He moved as fast as the wind. He placed his hand under my chin to lift my face up to him. He gently kissed me on the lips. The way that my body responded to him was amazing.
The mate bond was the most powerful bond we could have as wolves.
He pulled away from me. I was left breathless. He took my breath away. With each minute that passed between us I could feel our bond growing stronger.
"Adriel, I ....." those were the only words I could say before he kissed me again. He brought a hand to my hair and stroked it. He was so gentle, his kisses so soft.
I was starting to feel light headed and my knees gave out. He caught me before I could hit the floor.
"Rain, I am so sorry. You still seem to be weak." he sat on the floor next to the bed. He had me in his arms, holding me close.
"I'm okay. I just feel a little tired." I said.
"We can sit here together. Try not to do too much so you can build your strength up. I do not understand why you are healing so slow." he said.
"The closer I am to you the stronger I feel." I said.
It had always been said that when a wolf was injured they healed faster around their mates. He would make me stronger and heal me.
I could feel him rocking me slowly. I fell asleep in his arms. It was the best sleep that I had ever had. There were no dreams or nightmares. It was like Adriel was a shield that guarded me from danger.
When I woke up he was asleep, still holding me. My head was against his chest and I could hear his heart beat. He was perfect. His skin was soft on my face. His breath made his chest rise and fall. He must be exhausted from the patrol. I kissed his cheek. He stirred just a little. I kissed his neck and he woke.
"How do you feel?" he asked.
"I feel much better. I think I just needed to rest." I said.
"Take all the time you need. I love you in my arms." he said.
I was so blessed to have him. He helped me up to the chair by the fire.
"Are you hungry?" he asked.
"Yes and thirsty." I replied.
He got a cup from the shelf and poured me some water.
"Do you like tea?" he asked.
"Yes, I love tea!" I said. I could really use some hot tea.
"I will be right back." he said.
He left the cabin and I sat drinking my water looking at the fire. This cabin was really small, but cozy. I liked it here. I couldn't explain how safe I felt here. Adriel returned with a small kettle and a covered plate. He set them down on the table and came to help me up.
I sat in the chair and he moved the other one next to me. I think he knew the importance of the mate bond and my healing. He poured me some tea from the kettle. He took the cover off the plate. There were meats, cheese, bread, and butter. He stood and grabbed a small container off the shelf.
He poured the contents into my tea. It's honey! How did he know!
"This honey will help you heal. I like honey in my tea. My mother always put honey in my tea." he said.
"Our mother's sound the same. I like honey in my tea, too." I said. I grabbed some bread and put butter on it. This bread was hot and fresh. The butter was fresh, too.
He grabbed a piece of bread and meat. He took a bite and watched me while I ate. I was usually not self conscious when I ate around others, but I felt it now. I think I understood what some of my mother's lessons meant.
I took petite bites and savored the food. The meat was perfectly smoked.
"What kind of meat is this?" I asked.
"It is boar. I killed it yesterday and the women smoked it for me." he said.
"It is really good." I said.
"We make everything here and it is always fresh. We have a garden for the pack, too. I did not grab any vegetables for you, I am sorry." he said.
"This is perfect." I said, helping myself to another piece of meat.
"Would you like to go outside for some fresh air?" he asked.
"Yes, I would love to go outside and see the pack." I replied.
"Finish eating and we will go." he laughed.
I thought he was laughing at the way I ate. The food was so good I couldn't help closing my eyes with each bite and felt a small dance come over me.
"Before we go outside, could I use the phone?" I asked.
"Phone?" he looked at me, his head c****d to the side.
"A landline or cell phone, so I could call my father." I said.
"We do not have that here. I have never heard of landline or cell phone." he said.
I just brushed it off and finished eating, it was fine. I would find a phone somewhere else.
