"What?" She asked in shock. She looked at him as she wondered if he had lost a few brain cells of his.
"You must be kidding me, you cannot get married to me, I guess I am in some sort of dream," Sonia did not want to believe it.
"I am sorry, but this is the truth, you are getting married to me and it has been finalized, after all this is the only way your parents can pay me back," Andre tilted his head as he looked at her with a smug smile.
He might seem like a jerk but he was only willing to be a jerk for matters which concerns her.
"Pay you back?" Sonia asked with a frown. What had been going on behind her back.
"Yes, to pay me back! Your parents here owe me a large sum and in order to clear their debt, it was decided that you will get married to me, isn't that right?" He c****d his head as he directed a look towards Fiona who nodded immediately.
"This is not possible," she whispered to herself. Sonia was not willing to believe it. This could be as a result of she not wanting to have anything to do with the person standing in front of her.
Andre looked at her unbelieving expression and his heart clenched in pain. It was all his fault, but what could he have done then?
"Please see to it that she is at my house, dressed in a bridal attire tomorrow," Andre instructed before walking back to his car.
After the car drove out, Sonia fell to the floor as she looked on in shock. Her dad quickly reacted as he tried to help her up but she dodged. She did not want to be touched by anyone of them.
"Why?" She whispered as she looked at them, tears filled in her eyes.
"I said why?" She yelled as the tears fell from her eyes making her look in a sorry state.
"I hate the both of you, I hate you, you are practically selling me off," Sonia continued as she stared at them, the hatred in her her eyes evident.
"Sonia, my child," her father tried to touch her but she swatted his hands away.
"Do not touch me!" She enunciated each word clearly as she stood up before storming into her room.
"My daughter hates me," Sullivan, Sonia's father muttered while he looked at her retreating back with regret.
"Oh please, it is a good thing for us, at least she can contribute to the family," Fiona said with a shrug of her shoulders.
Sullivan stared at her, astounded by her attitude.
"This is all your fault, my daughter hates me because of you," Sullivan pointed at her with furiousness and frustration etched all over his face.
Fiona looked at him with disdain, "my fault?" She asked with a scoff.
"Your daughter hates the both of us, if you were firm, you would not have allowed her to be bullied, you are just are a weak spine who constantly blames others for his misfortune," Fiona spat and this was the complete truth.
Sullivan looked at her for a while before storming out of the house.
"Good riddance to rubbish," she dusted her palms slightly before a bright smile appeared on her face as she thought of the fortune she had made just from selling off Sonia.
Sonia walked into her room with a numb look. She was tired. She was exhausted. She felt like giving up.
Once again, she contemplated suicide but that would give her enemies immense joy. She could not do that.
But did that mean she had to get married to the one who had once hurt her? What was the guarantee that he would not hurt her again?
"No, I cannot get married to Andre," she wondered aloud as she squatted.
She recalled the beautiful times she spent with Andre two years ago. She did not know of his identity then.
They had been so in love, or rather, she was the one giving out all of the love which left her at a disadvantageous position.
'But what if he is willing to make it up to you?' While she lowered her head, a subconscious thought ran through her mind.
'What make it up to me? He hurt me, what does he want from me again?' Sonia vehemently denied what the thought.
'I know you saw the sincerity in his eyes, you are just scared of being hurt again,' the voice said to her and she bit her lips slightly.
The voice was right. She was scared. If she got married to him, what are the odds that he would not abandon her once more.
It was only right for Sonia to have such thoughts. She had been hurt over and over again, she could not trust anyone anymore.
She heart had turned numb to every feeling from the outside world.
Her heart, which has been constantly shattered could not beat anymore. She was like a living dead.
'You can always do this, do not think too much into the marriage, treat it as a marriage of convenience, you can always lay out several conditions which will be beneficial for you,' her subconscious said to her and she had a deep, contemplative look on her face.
"Let me sleep over it," Sonia had an exhausted voice while she had a dreary look on before mounting on her bed and falling asleep immediately.
Andre on the other hand visited a bar. Seeing Sonia today ignited several emotions he thought he had lost.
He called several of his friends to accompany him as he drowned in his sorrows.
"What is wrong with him?" One of his friends asked the other.
"I heard he is getting married," the other whispered as a reply.
"Married? I thought he would not get married after he had separated from Sonia," the other exclaimed in shock.
"Speak lightly, he is in a very bad mood," the other cautioned and he kept his mouth shut.
"From my sources, he seems to be getting married to Sonia," Fred whispered as he dropped the bombshell.
His other friend, Beckham's eyes rounded in shock as he turned to look at Andre who continued with his drinking in shock.
