Asher POV
Pulling up the driveway to my packhouse, I felt a small sense of pride. Although there are only 3 stories, not including the 'basement', there is a compound type of setting to it. I have a left front wing and back wing that houses the Warriors and Omegas. The right front and back wings house the ranking wolves. As the Alpha, I am on the top floor. Under me is the Beta floor. On the ground floor is the Gamma floor.
Gamma Leo Brinks is my third in command. By instinct, he is genetically ingrained to protect Luna, making him her 2nd in command. At the center of the pack house, any of our packmates wanting to move out of their parent's home after their shifts are welcomed in rooms located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The ground floor consists of the kitchen, formal dining hall, sunroom, and guest bedrooms. Most would think that our 'basement' houses the dungeons. I am inclined to inform you that that is a tremendous lie.
Our basement has 2 media centers, a movie theater, a game room, and an arcade room. Needless to say, we may have the most feared pack, but we like to have fun too. We deserve it! That's just the packhouse. There is a lot to see in our community. The shape of the packhouse is similar to that of a horseshoe. Directly in the middle, in the backyard, is a massive botanic garden filled with different kinds of flowers. My mom is in love with beautiful things, which makes the botanic garden her favorite place.
We park by the side entrance that takes us straight to the ranked members' wing. I want to avoid an announcement to the pack until we have things situated. She looks bad, and I do not want them to judge or be pitiful to their Luna. Regardless of how I feel, Aniyah will still be my Luna.
"Aniyah, we have arrived." I gently tap my sleeping Luna, watching her reaction to try to get a sense of what she feels. As she glances out of the window, I see a small spark in her eyes that fizzles out. This immediately frustrates me. Why does it seem like she is not impressed? I know that my packhouse is better than the conditions that she just vacated from. I am not going to accept any cr*p from my abused average Omega mate. If she thinks that I will, then she has another thing coming.
"Thank you, Alpha Asher, your home is beautiful." Aniyah lowers her head as she responds. I like to see her eyes, at least it allows me to slightly gauge her reactions. I can NOT have a weak Luna; my pack would judge me and my capacity to lead them.
"Aniyah, you are my Luna. Luna Aniyah to the Shadow Fury Pack. This is our home. You are a part of this. I know it will take some getting used to. You may be just an Omega, but DO NOT lower your head to no one. You are the Queen of this castle." The smile that quietly graced her lips was a pleasant change. The quicker she gets this through her head the better it will be for us all. "Just Asher unless we are in a formal setting." We exited the SUV and made our way inside. It was 10 pm and I just wanted to sleep.
"Sneaking in, are we?" Layana snidely remarks as we finally enter the sitting area. F*****g Layana Brinks, Gamma Leo's little sister.
'KILL HER!' Zeus yells in my head. He was never fond of her disrespect. Last year, when Layana shifted, she moved into the packhouse and immediately forgot her place. She lied to her parents by telling them that I was her fated mate. That was complete and utter bu*****t.
I wouldn't mate her with someone else's pole. She tried to f*** her way to the top of the ranking wolves, yet only the unmated warriors would touch her. Female wolves will usually date but save themselves for their fated mates. Not Layana. After straightening out the problem that her lies caused, she continues to intimidate pack members and claim to be their future Luna. I tried to keep the pack drama to a minimum but she and her groupies were getting on my last nerve. Although I couldn't see Selia and Salone, I could smell their scents. Either they just left, or they were hiding in the shadows.
"May we be of assistance to you, Layana?" I asked her, my face completely devoid of any emotions. It is late and I am not in the mood for her petty shenanigans. Let us all pray that she does not upset my mate. I will not be dealing with this tonight.
"Why, yes, Asher, who do we have here?"
