5. Mate

867 Words
Asher POV I could see a small smile on Alpha Dimitri's face at finding out that an omega was my mate. If he thinks this will make me accept his daughter, I have a rude awakening for him. Chassity Jones will NEVER be the Luna nor a pack member, she’ll be nothing to the Shadow Fury Pack! "I, Alpha Asher Layne, of the Shadow Fury Pack, accept you, Aniyah Grant, as my mate and Luna." Slowly, she raised her head with her mouth open, as if in slow motion, I watched the tray of glasses fall from her hand. Thankfully, the umbrella holder was there to catch the mess. It was a hilarious sight to see. I guess she expected me to reject her. "I, Aniyah Grant of Crescent Moon Pack, accept you, Asher Layne, as my mate and Alpha." I won’t lie, seeing the small smile with a hint of confusion in her eyes made me think about learning more about her. I am not interested in any weak omega, but the Moon Goddess has chosen her as my mate for a reason. "NO THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS! How dare you not take my daughter as a chosen mate." Alpha Dimitri flamed at the neck. He was p****d because of what he viewed as disrespect. Who does this guy think he is? This weak ‘alpha’ needs my help. At this rate, we will not be entering into a treaty with them. "I am the powerful alpha in this equation, Dimitri. LET YOU NOT FORGET YOUR PLACE WHEN SPEAKING TO ME!" My voice boomed throughout the packhouse, causing the chandelier to rattle. The aura of my wolf radiated from my body in waves. Dimitri tried but failed to keep his posture as his wolf recognized me as the stronger wolf, bowing his head to me. Everyone in my presence bowed their heads. I noticed my mate bowed her head as well, but it was with ease. It was as if her wolf did not feel the pressure of my alpha aura. I attempted to mind link her wolf. Instead of a response, I felt nothing but a void. Does she not have a wolf yet? I will have to find out what is going on with that. "You are Alpha by default. Let us not forget that you were once the Beta of the Crescent Moon Pack. Goddess rests the previous Alpha and Luna's souls." The audacity of this scum to think that it was okay to show disrespect to me, a pure-bred Alpha. I would never accept the likes of his daughter. I can smell the many men's scents mixed in with her own. Such a nasty she wolf. "Thank you for the dinner, unfortunately I will be taking my leave and my mate." I gently took my mate’s hand, trying to catch a glance of her green eyes even though her face was cast downward. I felt the sparks shoot up my arm from my hand as my mate’s soft fingers entangled with mine. Dimitri made an attempt to block our path, but he should have known that this was not a good idea. To interfere in the union of a mated couple is grounds for death if the couple wishes it to be so. I have been waiting for a reason to rip this treacherous man’s head from his shoulders. Although we have no proof, we believe that he is the reason the Crescent Moon Alpha, Luna, and child were m*****ed. He was their beta and was supposed to protect him, yet out of all the ranked members, he and his wife were the only ones to survive. Something was amiss. No pack has ever had all the ranking members die in a single attack before nor since then. Call it a gut feeling, but I know that he is to be blamed. Their Gamma may have been sl********* as well or could be missing. Still, he has not been seen for 17 years, presumed dead. “I advise you to move out of the way or you will lose your head.” I feel my skin begin to ripple as Zeus makes his presence known. He is ready for a fight. “You misunderstand me, Alpha Asher, shouldn’t we speak about payment for your mate?” The gall of this a**wipe. “No, we will not. Werewolf law states that any she-wolf mated outside of the pack with the lower rank of at most a Gamma, freely leaves unless she shall choose to have payment left for the betterment of her family.” I give him payment. That’s definitely not happening. “Aniyah, do you have a family you wish to give payment to for our mate-ship?” I asked my mate; I actually didn’t know if she had family in this pack or not. “No, I do not. My family is dead and, by the way, they were warriors. I do not see a need for payment.” There goes that slight smile again. I could see the anger radiating from Dimitri’s red face and I could care less.
