13. Loyalty

Asher POV
“Mary, grab her clothes and pull the sheets back.” She does what I say, running around me to get it done before I reach the bed.
“Alpha, why is this happening? Did she say she was sick?” I think Mary is more worried than I am. We can’t lose our Luna before we even get to know her. Out of courtesy, Mary dries the water from her body and starts dressing her as I stare everywhere else.
“Oh my goddess, Alpha, look!” Mary gasped. I turned around in response to her shock and I couldn’t believe it. There is a birth mark just under her b*tt cheek. I can’t make out the shape because it is blindingly bright. Her skin is silver, but the mark is gold.
‘KIERY WAKE YOUR A** UP RIGHT NOW!’ I sent out my alpha command through the mind link.
‘Up Alpha, I didn’t sense any rogues. What is going on?’ Leave it to my Beta to think that I was waking him up because of rogues. I appreciate his sense of duty.
‘Something is happening with Aniyah. It is unexplainable but I need you to use your researching skills to find out what is going on.’
‘Can I come to you now?’ Knowing Kiery, he was already on the stairs to my floor, being the prompt and efficient Beta that he is. I have the best team in the world!
‘Luna’s quarters.’ Mary lumps a foot in the air as Kiery comes barreling into the room. She may be a wolf, but she is a scaredy cat. Kiery’s eyes are black, which means Thanos is present, sniffing the air and growling deep in his chest. I hear Mary whimpering as she drops onto her knees. Thanos quiets down and kneels before me. There is a warmth spreading through my body and I feel a surge of power within me.
‘Zeus, what is wrong with us?’ My wolf did not respond. I don’t know if I should worry or not. The warmth turns into a dull burn concentrated more towards my right shoulder blade. The sensation lasts for a minute or two. I hear people running down the hall towards us as Kimmy, Leo, Stephanie, Gabrielle and Danny run into the room, landing on their knees.
“Mate!”
“Mine!” Everyone’s eyes are black! Kiery and Kimmy are mates. She’s only sixteen! Omega Anise whimpers from the doorway. I didn’t hear her footsteps.
‘Asher, my child, protect your pack and your Luna. There is a war coming to you all.’ I hear a beautiful voice in my head.
‘My children, you are blessed by the moon goddess. Protect yourselves and your Luna. Rise now!’ We are all looking around at each other as they get to their feet. Their wolves have receded. Zeus never came out; he'd never been this quiet before. Kimmy and Keiry are eyeing each other with surprise clearly written on their faces.
“Oh, quit staring at each other, I approve.” When ranking members or family members find their mates in each other, out of respect, they seek the Alpha’s approval before acknowledging the bond. I’ve known that my little sister has had a crush on my best friend since she was six years old. Always crying to tag along behind us, but it wasn’t to be around me! This may be a transition for my Beta. He’s always viewed her as a little sister.
“That was the moon goddess, I think. Did everyone hear that?” I hoped I wasn’t the only one. If I am going insane, Goddess, please help us all.
“Yes, we are to protect ourselves and Luna Aniyah.” Keiry was the first to answer me, while everyone nodded at a loss for words.
“I was told more.” Mary chimed in, looking timid.
“Me too.”
“Same.”
“Ditto.”
“Alpha, if I may?” Chimed Omega Anise.
“Yes, Anise.” She appeared intimidated by all of the powerful auras in the room. With a deep breath she continued with determination.
“I believe that it was the moon goddess. She told me to stay beside our Luna and protect her with my life. Strength is not more powerful than knowledge and intelligence.” She bared her neck to me as a sign of respect. “I pledge my loyalty to my Luna.”
Anise had always been quiet and timid, who knew she had so much spunk in that little body. At that moment, I think everyone in the room viewed Anise in a different light as we looked at her with a mix of shock and awe.
‘Asher, we need to have a meeting about everything that has happened tonight.’ My eyes connected with Kiery’s in agreement.
‘Let’s go to my office. Anise stays with the Luna. No one else is to enter this room until you hear from one of us. This is important,
we need to find out what is going on.’ I mind link everyone in the room.
‘Yes Alpha.’ We all exit the room, leaving Aniyah in the care of Anise.
