It's been almost four years since i last saw Sarah , as we were both being separated because of our choice of uni , while i decided to remain at home to a local uni , Sarah got a full Scholarship to a very respective research institution , i remember that day so clearly , when i had to say goodbye to my best friend at the airport knowing I won't be seeing her for four years to come , and i knew they won't pass quickly or easily , but we hugged , promised to contact each other everyday , as i saw her plane take off i got teary eyed cause she was my only friend , my best friend , when we started our school year , things were hectic for Sarah , she often called me on her first semester crying of how everything there is so hard , and even with her high IQ , she couldn't understand most of the subjects they teach there , about a month later Sarah was completely different , she became very calm , collected , busy , almost not recognizing my voice most days , but i kept in touch , until at one day Sarah just didn't answer her phone , nor called , i kept calling her for days but no use , i even contacted her mom just to make sure she is alright , and apparently Sarah keeps in touch with her mom , Caroline , Sarah's mom said that she calls her everyday and has Sarah tell her a joke everyday just to make sure her daughter hasn't changed , so i realized it was only me who got the silent treatment , even though i have done nothing wrong to her , i wouldn't do that to my best friend , it's just not me , after that i got nothing from Sarah , no texts , calls , tweets or even emails , so i gave up after a year , but from time to time my mind can't keep replaying our last phone call and how she seemed strange on the phone ~flash back~ It's the fourth ring already and Sarah hasn't picked up yet , that's odd ... "Yes ? " Sarah answered like she doesn't recognize my name or number on her phone . "Sarah , it's me Anna , your best friend remember ? " I told her offended , how can she forget about me when we talk everyday ! . " Oh sorry Anna , my phone somehow has no contacts at the moment so i have to re-save it , how are you bestie?" Sarah never says bestie she hates the word , loathes it even , she says only drunk people say that , maybe she's drunk but she isn't slurring or anything ,seems completely sober to me . " Bestie Sarah , really ? , Any how , i just wanted to see if you're okay , i texted you last night after lunch to check up on you , what happened with that class you found so difficult , did you perhaps found a tutor ? " I tried to lighten the mood because i knew something was off about her , but I didn't want to pressure her into telling , she'd tell me when she feels like it . "Uh , sorry Anna but i don't have time for this , i like our small chit chat but i gotta go , bye ! " Did she just squeal ? , Sarah hate that sound , so i know right away that there's something wrong , I thought of calling her again right away but i remembered that she said she's busy , so I'll just call her in the evening , or that what I thought . I was brought back to present by my friend Max as he nudges me in the side , when i look at him confused as to why he just nudged me but he looked at our professor , and when i looked at the professor he was looking disapprovingly at me , when i looked around everyone was looking at me , waiting. "I am sorry sir , what was the question ? " I am so doomed ! " Miss Anna , I'd suggest you to concentrate or else , any more mistakes and your out , understood ! ? " Professor Mark said almost shouted , his voice just gives me the chills , he has this deep voice that makes you want to crawl in the first corner you see to hide , his voice is that scary . " Yes sir " i answered , the rest of the lecture flew by , i did try to concentrate , and i did most of the lecture , but my mind kept wandering to Sarah , she is coming today , and i was wondering if she would let me see her , i have missed her so much , but i fear she'd reject my friendship again .I sighed and went on my way , i had two more lectures yet and they demand my full attention , not sure how am I gonna do that , but I'll try . After long twelve hours at uni , my head hurts , i had so many assignments to do , a presentation and a research , and they're all due next week , i hope to have enough energy to finish them , after i heated some frozen lasagna , i ate and watched TV for a while , but a blinding light from my window caught my attention , i got up to see what's that light , when i checked the side window , i saw a car parking in Sarah's house , to see her in flesh getting out of the car and stares at the house for a full two minutes , like she can't believe she's back , i watched Sarah as she kept tracing the out lines of the fence , the mail box , and get teary eyed , I don't know what could have made her get teary eyed other than she missed it here , but then she looks straight at me , she gives me a weird look , like she is trying to recognize me , as if she doesn't remember me , i close the curtain, and can't help but think that i lost my friend forever , she doesn't remember who i am , i bet she forget all about our memories together , was I that blind ? , Could it be true that Sarah never loved me and our friendship was fake , was I never that special , that it was easy for her to replace me after all those years ? , I knew Sarah and I were completely different , but i thought we had a strong friendship , i was brought back to reality when i heard the door bell , i went to the door and wondered who would it be , i don't know anyone who would come at this time of night , but when i opened the door i was surprised to see who's there . " Hello , Iam Sarah , the new neighbor " there before me stood my lifetime friend , introducing herself as if she never met me before !
