I made sure to lock the door which linked my room to the other room where Seth and Maverick were staying.
Thinking about what Ash just told me, it's better to be safe than sorry I guess.
For some reason I was feeling kind of tired already. I decided to just wash up and go to bed but the idea was interrupted by a small knock on my door.
"Do you need anything?" I came face to face with Maverick.
"I need to smoke in your balcony." The kid just barged right in without any explanation.
"Don't you have your own balcony?"
"That Seth guy complained about how he doesn't want to inhale second-hand smoke and some crap about cigarettes being bad for your health. Can't stand him." Maverick rolled his hazel eyes.
I opened my mouth to lecture him about how I'm not okay with inhaling second-hand smoke either but then closed my mouth back again to save my energy instead.
"You're not going to lecture me as well, are you?" He glanced at me sideways while exhaling the smoke from his mouth.
"Why bother? I'm just going to take a quick shower so that I can go to bed already." I came back inside my room.
"I trust you'll be gone by then okay?" I heard no response from the younger guy but proceeded to the bathroom anyway.
By the time I finished washing up, Maverick was not in the balcony anymore but I found him seated on the couch instead.
"Come to think of it, I really can't stand Seth and his OCD. I'll just crash here for the night... unless you want me on the bed with you?" He playfully joked as he laid down on the couch.
As if on cue, Seth barged into the room to kick out Maverick for me. Thank goodness.
"I think you'll find sleeping with me tonight just as fun, teenager." Seth tried to drag the guy by the shirt but Maverick managed to hold on to the couch.
"Okay, how about you guys just take this room while I take yours?" I suggested. Last time I checked, their suite had the jacuzzi which Maver was really thrilled about. I wonder what changed his mind though. Maybe Seth’s Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is more critical than I thought? But then again Maver had a knack for exaggerating things way out of proportion as what I have observed from the rebellious teenager.
"Here's an idea, how about we all just sleep here tonight instead of making a big deal out of it?" Maverick pitched in.
"Why don't we respect Clementine's privacy instead? We wouldn't want to make her feel uncomfortable now... unless she's okay with it?" Seth seemed to be okay with the idea of sharing the room which was pretty surprising and here I thought he was on my side?
"Of course I mind! We shouldn't be sharing our rooms in the first place just because our rooms are connected. What is up with you guys and your obsession for this room?!" I couldn't help but raise my voice.
"Knock, knock! I smell a slumber party going on in here. Mind if I join you guys?" Ash came in uninvited with a sleeping bag wrapped around his arms. It was as if he had already anticipated the current situation.
"Are the walls that thin around here?" I gave up as I headed towards my bed. "Oh you have no idea, my dear Clementine." Ash chuckled.
It makes me think that he has been eavesdropping since a while ago which is so totally Ash.
"Whatever. Just don't go anywhere near my bed and don't be too loud because I'm going to sleep now." I sighed.
"Aww! You're not going to join us for a round of cards?" I can imagine Ash pouting as he says this.
"Not interested. The bed is calling me. Good night all you people!" I covered myself with the blanket.
******
I woke up to the feeling of having someone sleeping beside me. It was my topless boss which didn't really surprise me.
I found Seth sleeping soundly on the couch like an angel while Maverick was sprawled out on the floor hugging a liquor bottle.
Wild night, I guess? I pushed Ash as far away from me as possible before I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
I actually heard them playing cards last night and truth or dare or something which can explain Ash's lack of clothes.
I was never a fan of drinking parties because you get to lose your sense of control which I think is super scary.
Being the geek that I was back in college wherein I tried to keep my scholarship in check, I could never afford to go to college parties because I always prioritized my studies first.
There was this one time though that I tried going to a friend's party which I thought was going to be a 'small party' only but that's when I learned that such term didn't actually exist.
The experience was traumatizing of course since people called me 'the kissing monster' the next day telling me that I made out with a bunch of strangers after emptying a bottle of Jägermeister. I didn't believe them of course since I couldn't recall anything that night or rather I was in denial of such indecent behavior.
Anyway, the main lesson was to stay away from any alcoholic beverages.
"Clement, open up!" Someone knocked on my door. It was the twins.
"Whoa, what the hell happened in here?" Fort arched an eyebrow.
"Too bad I missed out on this!" Trey exclaimed.
"It was just them. I slept early last night."
"Of course you did. C'mon now, it's time for breakfast." Fort gave me a small smile as the twins escorted me to the mess hall.
“We are so inviting ourselves tonight into your room.” Trey made up his mind. And I’ll make sure to not open my door to anyone who comes knocking on my door the next time.
Levin was almost finished with his breakfast by the time we reached our destination.
He just scowled at me as if I was going to steal some of his food away from him. What can I say? The guy’s got issues.
“Good morning to you too, Levin.” I flashed him a plastic smile as I passed by the antisocial dude.
