Don't mess with me

Chapter 35 Sophie POV "Ugh! I told you I wasn't coming out here," I whine tiredly as I drag my feet behind Zara. We have been going around all day, from restaurant to amusement park, to ice cream joint, and we are heading to the motor park to do nothing. I should've just gone to the office earlier, and not bothered to take the day off. "Come on, we've been having fun, isn't it?" She turns to roll her eyes at me before she turns her gaze away and stretches her hands, throwing her head back. "f**k Jeffrey... That dude is a bastard, and I won't think of him again," She screams out, probably to feel better, but deep inside me, I know she will still talk about missing him later, so what is the point of believing her? "What should I do, Sophie?" She suddenly stops and turns to face me, her eyes glistening with tears, and I roll my eyes. I knew it. "I thought you were not going to think about him again? How come you are crying now?" I scoff before I walk past her. "It's not my fault, Sophie. I really love him, and you know it," Pain is obvious in her voice as she utters, and I sigh briefly. "Are you going to force him now that it's obvious he doesn't want you?" I ask her as we finally stop to sit on the bench at the side of the road to have some rest. "His birthday is coming up next week... I don't want to go there alone, Sophie. I will feel useless around him..." "Then just stay back at home, and don't go there," I shrug, and she sighs deeply. "I wish I can stay back. I want to show him that I'm better off without home..." "And do you think attending his birthday party will make that happen? Why don't you just give up on that bastard, and move on with your life? You are going to hurt yourself more, if you keep thinking about him," I say to her, and she slowly nods her head. "Just help me, Sophie. I don't want him to go scot-free for hurting me," She pouts her lips, and I sigh briefly. "What do you want me to do? Go with you to the birthday? I'm going to cause a scene there if I go with you, so don't even think of that. What do you want..." "Find me a man to go there with me," She cuts me off, and I raise my eyebrows in shock. "Are you kidding me?" I blink my eyes rapidly, and she shakes her head. "No, I'm not. Just help me this once, and I promise to pay you in the future," She pleads with me, and I scoff. "Where do you expect me to get a man from? Are you for real? Just come off that s**t, and let this go," I roll my eyes at her because this is crazy and funny at the same time. Does she think this is some Korean movie where the female lead goes out with a random dude because she got cheated on by her boyfriend? "But it happens in the books I write, Sophie," She pouts her lips. "This is reality, sweetheart. How can you even think of that?" I huff, getting bored of this argument that won't yield any good result. Her phone suddenly starts ringing, and she brings it out of her pocket. "Yes, this is Zara with pen name Z. Berry," From the way she talks, I guess the call must be from one of the publishing houses where she took her book earlier for publishing. "Like right now? Oh my goodness! Thank you so much, miss. I will be there shortly," She utters before she ends the call, and turns to face me, beaming with smiles like she'd just won a lottery. "What's with that smile?" I inquire, and she chuckles excitedly. "I just got a call that one of my books, 'The Forbidden Union' is offered a publishing slot. Ok my goodness! I'm over the moon. Let's talk when I get back later, I need to head there right away. I will see you later when I come home," She squeaks excitedly before she hurries away, not even giving me the chance to congratulate her. "Wow! Such a crazy girl," I shake my head before I release a deep sigh. I tuck my hands in my jacket and stand up to my feet, ready to leave. The weather today is quite conducive, and I love it. There's no sun, and everywhere is just cool like it just rained. As I stride down the road a few minutes later, thinking about the mess my life has been in for the past recent days, a black car suddenly pulls over beside me, and I almost jump out of my skin, since it scared gut out of me. I watch as the door throws open, and I quickly recognize the young lady that just stepped out of the car. It's Ariana, my longtime classmate from college. "Hey, you must be Sophie," She speaks to me rudely once she's standing in front of me, and I raise my eyebrow confusingly. Is she saying that she doesn't recognize me anymore? Well, that is not my problem now, anyway. "Am I supposed to answer that? And don't you think that is rude?" I scoff as I stare at her, burning in rage. She is as rude as she has always been back in school. "I am not here to batter words with you, and you should listen to me attentively," She utters as she flips her hair backward, while I just stare at her. "I found out you have been hanging around with my boyfriend recently, and I bet you wouldn't want to get on my bad side. I'm sure you still know what I'm capable of doing," She utters sternly, and I pull a puzzled look, wondering who the heck her boyfriend is. Yes, Ariana was the baddest girl in school that could ruin anyone's life with just a call. I can't count how many students have been expelled from school then because of her, and even if she did something wrong back then, she always had her way of clearing the mess without getting into trouble. Well, what were you expecting from an arrogant and spoilt daughter of a wealthy family? "Your boyfriend? Who is your boyfriend?" I ask her, getting impatient. Is she talking about Xander? The last time I checked, he told me he has never been in a relationship before, he wasn't lying to me, was he? "The man you've been throwing yourself at. I am talking about Jason. Stay the hell away from my man if you don't want to see the other side of me!" She snaps at me, and I can't help the scoff that tears through my throat. "You should chain your dog instead, Ariana..." I smirk at her, and she slowly clenches her fingers tightly, glaring hard at me like she would hit me anytime soon, but I bet she would never try that s**t with me. Yes, I'm a crazy b***h that wouldn't mind showing her the stuff I'm made of without thinking of the consequence if she does something stupid right here. "How dare you call my man a dog?" She sneers at me, and I shrug as I cross my arms on my chest. "Because that is what he is. Jason is a dog you are trying to feed on you, but it seems like he still wants his old owner, but sadly, I don't want him anymore. You wouldn't want to mess with me, Ariana, and I promise you that," I smirk at her, and she scoffs. "You!" "This should be the last time you try this s**t with me. If you ever do this again, I promise, even your money and power won't be able to save you from the discipline I will give to you," I utter before I turn and walk out on her angrily, while she stands there like a log of wood...
