THE FIRST OF THE LAST
Awakening as the sun hits her face, Lola was excited. It was her first day of the last year of school: senior year. Soon she would be out of school, and this god forsaken house, and off to college. The thought of moving across the state made her happy. She would be able to leave all of this behind. The pain, the sorrow, the abuse, everything.
Lola got out of bed and headed into the shower, still glowing with excitement. As the water hit her body, the bruises on her body burned, reminding her of the latest abuse. Lola lived with her mother and stepfather. Lola's mother worked alot, so she was always off on business trips. Lola's stepfather was the harbinger of abuse. He was a drunk who abused her for the fun of it. Nobody would believe her if she said anything, he was smart, he never did anything when her mother was home. She was trapped.
Lola got out of the shower, got dressed and headed downstairs. Kyle, her stepfather was no where to be seen. Lucky her. He must have headed to work. Lola grabbed and apple and shoved it into her bag, and her keys in her hoodie pocket. The hoodie hides the scars and it's loose so it doesn't rub against her bruises.
She walked to school, it wasn't far, maybe a block away at most. Lola loved school, she didn't have much friends but she loved learning and it's the only time she gets to see her newfound crush Mr. Peterson. He was her English teacher, her favorite subject.
Entering school she saw the twins Kylie and kevin, her best friends or rather her only friends. "Goodmorning, aren't you a ray of sunshine", asked Kevin after seeing her scowl. She looked past him at piper, the average mean girl, walking with Mr. Peterson. She was practically throwing herself at him, and he can't even see it. There is no doubt about it, Mr. Peterson is by far the hottest teacher in school. The problem is, he is totally oblivious to it.
"hello, earth to Lola", Kylie says while snapping her fingers in front of Lola's face. Kylie turns to look at what Lola is looking at. She scowls. "You can't let her get to you", Kevin's says as he puts his arm around her. She winces. Luckily it was barely audible. With that they walk into school, ready for what the day will bring.
