PREFACE
“Do you really have to leave?” Her question kept ringing in his head as he packed his bags, and for a moment, he sat on his bed and thought deeply – about everything! Jordan was the only child of his parents, Sarah and Williams Stale. They had him 14 years into their marriage, after they had adopted Calvin, his older brother, and had given up on having kids. Sarah and Williams were both high school sweethearts and got married at 22 and 23 respectively. Williams being an orphan saw Sarah as his whole world and definitely wasn’t going to lose her for anything. Their relationship took a rocky road when Sarah was diagnosed with an ailment that resulted in a weak cervix, making her unable to ever bear kids, even if she did, the chances of miscarrying them was super high. The doctor’s words broke her so much that she shut everyone off, including Williams, leaving everyone wondering what was wrong with her. Williams, her boyfriend at the time who knew she always visited the doctor had to go to the hospital, only to leave totally shattered. He was shattered! He wasn't shattered by the diagnosis, but because he knew how much having her own kids meant to Sarah and at that point he knew he had to be there for her. He did propose to her, and they got married. Without hesitation they adopted Calvin, whom they raised as their own. Fourteen years later, the story turned surprisingly miraculous, as they welcomed Jordan. This didn’t affect the way they treated Calvin, so both boys grew up together in love. Jordan paused, remembering everything his parents had told him about his arrival. Picking up a picture from his bedside table, he saw the happiness on his younger self – pure and uninterrupted. A faint smile seemed to show up on his face, but disappeared as fast as it appeared. He turned around and slowly looked at the room he grew up in, memories flashing in his head. “Do I really have to leave?” He muttered to himself, before crashing into his not-so-organized bed.
