Jonah’s POV

Mark has always been my best friend and means the world too me.. I know he feels different because his body is more on the feminine side and he got bullied for a while before I arrived kids laughing at him saying he looks like a girl.... Girls were jealous too I mean the guys face looks like that of an angel... so when I saw him in middle school seating all alone I thought that guy could use a friend and so far it’s the best decision I’ve ever made...

I know Mark is innocent and closed off when it comes to other people as well as Alice and I know his trying for my sake and that’s what I love about him he goes the extra mile for the people he loves even if it makes him a lil uncomfortable..

Alice of course is another angel in my life along side Mark damn I’m one lucky bastard.. What I did to deserve it I have no f*****g clue either way I appreciate it... She adores Mark and understands his reluctance so she decided to just watch over him like her own little son and believes with time they would be inseparable....

I park into my everyday parking spot and switch off the car I look to Mark and find him holding the door handle with shaky hands ... I hold his shoulders and make him face me

   “Hey hey suga remember being different doesn’t make any less a person it makes you special and authentic and it sets you aside from the riff raff“ he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath

   “ what sets you apart can sometimes feel like a burden and it’s not, and a lot of the time it’s what makes you great and indispensable” I say still holding him, he slowly opens his eyes and exhales then gives me a bright smile..

I exhale too I hate it when he overthinks and brings himself down I don’t know what to do to make it stop but Alice says when he finds love and is appreciated it’ll make him better and more appreciative of himself let’s hope so...

   “Why fit in when you were born to stand out “ he says giggling I know his quoting someone he found on google  I look upto him and start laughing too he always does this have a mini breakdown and laughs it off when his good

   “ Did you just quote Dr.Seuss” I say he just shrugs and leaves the car.. His always loved Dr.Seuss work I did too the guy made good cartoons and children’s books...

We enter the school and immediately head to the lockers, our parents tried to make sure we were together most of the time so they managed to get the principal to make sure our lockers were side by side and 80% percent of our lessons we were in the same class. They had to give a nice fat donation of course to the music club and football team ... They just wanted to make sure someone’s watching Mark’s back so it’s not Middle school all over again..

Mark is not being physically bullied well I’d like to think his not cause if that’s the case hell will break loose because of me and because his a Kingston and his father is not one to cross, he guns for your family business if he feels like someone threatened his little family especially his son...

They just give him weird looks while whispering to each other and ignore him by not talking to him, Mark says it doesn’t bother him as long they stay away from him his all good but I think a lil human interaction beside Alice and me would do him good ... but we will see baby steps...

I play football and Mark does music playing the piano.. There are times that when his on the keyboard you could literally feel his emotions pour out, it’s what makes him a prodigy but he says he isn’t interested in making anything out of it he just uses it as a release when things get too much..I think not but he tells himself that to believe it so he can do what his dad wants which is take over at Kingston’s when he retires.
