Chapter Fifteen

Elizabeth walked into Lady Ayres’s drawing room, doing her best not to show just how nervous she felt. The last time she’d paid morning calls, she’d learned she was being blamed for Lord Rogan’s attack of her and that her reputation was completely ruined.
Today would be different. She knew that, so really, there was no reason to be nervous. This was yet another piece of the ladies’ campaign to rebuild her reputation.
“Good afternoon, Lady St. Vincent, how lovely to see you again,” Lady Ayres said, rising and giving her a nod and a smile. Elizabeth paused and curtsied to the older lady.
