Chapter 6

1162 Words
When dad introduced Alexander, he stood up and turned around to face me. Seeing his face, I was dumbstruck and my eyes widened.   He was the same guy I met at the park earlier.   It can’t be right! Did I tell him how I would break HIS heart in the cruelest way? s**t!   He gave me a small smirk that was almost impossible to catch if one didn’t pay attention and then returned back to his cold face.   “Sierra, why don’t you take Alex for a walk and show him around the house; you guys can also take some time to learn about each other.” Dad requested but it sounded more like a command and I knew that I had no other option.   “Follow me.” Saying these two words, I turned around and started walking towards the garden.   When I reached the garden, I suddenly halted and turned around to look if he was following and give him a piece of my mind but the moment I turned around our faces were only inches away from each other – he was right behind me.   The close distance made me lose my balance and I was almost about to hit the ground when I felt a pair of arms hold me instantly to prevent me from hitting the ground. The arms felt strangely familiar.   The whole situation felt like a huge déjà vu.   Without any further thoughts, I immediately pulled myself up and away from his arms.   “Seems like you have a bad habit of falling down.” He said; his voice lacking emotions.   But what did he mean? ‘Bad habit of falling down’? What nonsense was he saying? I didn’t fall down the first time I met him in the park.   “And you have a bad habit of lying!” I shot back.   “Wow, pretty feisty! Well, guess what, I somewhat like feisty girls – they are quite good in bed” What he said disgusted me and added up to my fury.   “Sad… but I despise playboys.” I replied, with a sarcastic smile.   “What else do you despise? First – business marriages, and Second – playboys. Let’s see what else you have on your list.” Don’t get triggered, Sierra; he is trying to trigger you. I tried calming myself.   “Seems like it won’t be long enough before you find out but, why not you give a heads up? I despise YOU!” saying this I turned around and continued walking without looking back to see if he was following me.   When I reached the second floor balcony – it was fairly huge, tiled, had huge French glass doors and also held a breath-taking view of nature that can help you calm and clear off your mind no matter what the issue is – I leaned on the railings and let the view and the tranquil, light evening breeze do its magic in calming my raged mind.   Not long after, I felt a masculine presence right behind me and a pair of arms caged me from both of my side. Without turning back, I knew who it was.   An unknown feeling of comfort washed over me due to his presence and touch. This unknown feeling confused me and annoyed me.   I harshly elbowed him on his side and pushed him back, turning around to see a pained expression pinned on his face instead of his usual cold features.   Without caring, I stalked towards my bedroom and shut the door. Even though his touch felt comforting for some annoying reason, I was furious because he touched me without my consent.   I don’t give a damn if he is actually hurt right now.   **** After 30 minutes, Nancy came and called me downstairs again for lunch.   When I reached the dining table, everyone was already seated and dad was staring at me with a disappointed look on his face. You can’t blame me for not giving him a full house tour and spending time with him.   The lunch was pin drop silence – no one said a word – until Mrs. Cameron started talking to me.   Mrs. Cameron despite her age had a young face, honey sweet voice, strawberry blonde hair and hazel eyes – it seemed Alex got his eyes from his mom – in two words, she was elegantly lovely.   “So Sierra, I heard you are excellent at fashion.” Mrs. Cameron started a conversation, with full interest.   “Ah, Mrs. Cameron, you are exaggerating. I am just a beginner.” I answered with a small but gentle smile.   “Oh don’t call me Mrs. Cameron anymore, Call me mom from now onwards. And you are too good for a beginner in the fashion department. How can you say I am exaggerating when you have already earned a few huge awards at such a young age?” Will I ever get used to her soothing voice?   “Thank you for your praises Mrs. Ca– uh… mom.” I corrected myself, when she gave me a sweet glare. “I don’t want to send my mom’s efforts in vain. Fashion was also Sally’s second priority, after me. Don’t want to disappoint both of them.” I ended with another elegant smile.   “Yeah, your mom was the fashion queen. I do miss her a lot already. You take a lot of things after her” How did she know mom? “Ah by the way, you fainted in the cemetery that day! Are you feeling okay now?” she ended.   Wait, was she in the cemetery that day? Most of the guests already left while I fainted. How did she know?   “I am feeling a lot better now. I guess the heavy rain caused me to faint that day.” I answered, making sure not to show any signs of confusion.   “Yeah it was raining pretty badly. But, when Alex rushed towards you to hold you from hitting the ground, it was such a sweet scene. He rushed to take you back home” She added.   So, Mr. Mysterious Arms was the person I despised the most at the moment- Alex. Damn, this was the reason why he said I had a bad habit of falling down during the incident in the garden.   Wow, a lot of questions answered and confusions were cleared.   With smiles from me, the conversation was ended.   A few minutes later, when the lunch was almost ending, Dad made 3 clinks on the glass using his fork to grab everyone’s attention.   When he was sure that everyone had all their attention on him, he said, “So, Mr. Cameron and I decided the wedding date…”
