Sierra’s POV
“Your wedding is decided to be held next week. We were eager to throw the wedding this weekend but unfortunately, the bridal gown and the venue aren’t selected. So we finalized the wedding to be held next week.” Dad broke the news.
I approve the date without any effort because I know that once dad finalizes something, there’s no reconsidering and this will happen anyway so better get done with it now.
Everyone in the room seemed pleased with the date; Mrs. Cameron, Mr. Cameron, and Alex – all were satisfied and were smiling. Realizing that I was apparently the only one who had no reaction on her face, I masked a forced smile.
But from the way that Alex was staring at me I knew that he knows I wasn’t as satisfied as the others and he also knew that my smile was fake. Well, it was obvious from the way I surfaced the hate I had for him and displayed it to him.
“That’s great news. I can accompany Sierra to buy her wedding gown. After all, a second female opinion is better to have while shopping. We can go out and start looking for the dress from tomorrow. That is if you don’t have any problems, Sierra?” Mrs. Cameron – Emma – spoke up.
“Sure, Mrs. Cameron. I would love to. The last time I went shopping was with Sally and I always took her opinions. So, it became a habit now. I really need someone’s opinion while choosing the dress.” I replied to her with a genuine smile. Emma was a sweet and lovely person and I would love to spend more time with her.
“And for the venue, I think it’s better for Alex and Sierra to decide it together. You guys can spend some more time getting to know each other. But that is only my opinion, it’s all on you guys.” Mr. Cameron added.
“That sounds perfect to me, Daniel.” My so-called dad answered.
“I also think that’s a good idea. We should spend more time getting to know each other before the wedding. I am sure Sierra also thinks the same.” Alex agrees and throws a small smirk in my direction.
I force another tight-lipped smile when I notice that everyone’s eyes were on me to see what I thought. Not like my opinion mattered as long as dad was in the room and had the upper hand. And I also understood that Alex was purposely pushing my limits.
Guess what, sweetheart? I won’t give you the satisfaction of reaching my bottom line just yet. I mentally tell that to Alex.
The Camerons leave after long and annoyingly lengthy 30 more minutes. Everything was decided. I was getting married next week because my selfish dad wanted to increase his shares in the company and also take part in the Cameron business.

When I woke up the next day, there were 4 missed calls and 6 texts from Emma – my to-be mother-in-law. Recalling that today we were supposed to go out and look for the wedding gown, I hurried out of the bed and raced to the washroom to get cleaned up.
As soon as I came out from the washroom there were more 2 texts from Emma-
Emma: Will be there to pick you up in 20 mins.
Won’t bother you to drive; got a designated driver.
Me: Got it J
Quickly replying to the text, I rushed into my closet and slipped inside a pair of black leggings and a cute, above-knee, yellow sundress. With a pair of ballerina shoes, lightly done natural makeup, and letting my hair down, I finished off my look.
Rushing downstairs to the kitchen, I poured a glass of milk from the carton and grabbed a scone from the basket to fill my tummy before heading out.
As soon as I was done, there was a horn outside. Knowing that it must be Emma, I headed outside but not before getting my phone and purse.
My life seems to be full of unwanted surprises. When I tried to open the backseat door of the car, it was locked and the driver’s window rolled down. The so-called designated driver was Alex!
Rolling my eyes, I murmured, “What a pleasant surprise.”
“Get in the front seat.” Alex ordered.
“Kindly, unlock the back door, please.” I replied, trying my best to keep my voice polite.
“Nope, you are getting in the front seat, beside me” Alex shot back.
“No, I am sitting in the back to spend time with my to-be mother-in-law. I am not going to sit in the front.” I argued.
“You will be spending the rest of your life with me, therefore you should spend more time with me rather then spend time with mom. You aren’t going to spend your life mainly with mom. Get to know me better.” Alex replied sternly.
Disliking the point that he said ‘spending the rest of my life’ with him, I decided not to give in instead argue more.
“I might be spending the rest of my life with you so there’s plenty of time to get to know you. I will be too bored if I start spending time with you from now.” I debated.
“Don’t worry, darling. I will make sure you don’t get bored.” Alex said with a playful voice and a wink.
“I would rather get bored then be entertained by you.” I answered with a savage smile.
“Sure enough you won’t say that once you get to know me and spend time with me. I won’t ever let you get bored. Now stop arguing and get inside and sit in the front seat.” Alex ordered again.
“I won’t go shopping if I am supposed to sit in the front seat. I will rather take my car. Meet you at the mall, Mrs. Cameron.” I replied sternly.
I started walking towards the garage to get my car but from the corner of my eyes, I could see Alex coming out and walking towards me.
Once he reached me, he spoke up, “Sierra, why don’t you try and give us a chance. It’s a lot better then arguing with each other and making it hard.”
“I won’t ever give us a chance because I despise you,” I spoke rudely.
“Kids, we are just wasting time. Come on Sierra just get in the front seat. After all, you guys will be sleeping in the same bed from next week. Stop arguing.” Emma spoke up this time.
Giving up we both got in the front seat and Alex started the engine. Before the car could even start moving my phone pinged. Reaching out for it, I saw a text from the person I least expected…
