CHAPTER TWENTY THREE The sound of gently crashing waves filtered into Esther’s consciousness. She let her eyelids flutter open, taking in the sight of a black sky above her. It was blanketed with bright, blinking stars, brighter than any she had ever seen before. It was beautiful. For a second, Esther felt like she was floating in some kind of sea of eternity.
