Chapter 1 Mia's POV I never imagined that after three years of marriage, the man who once swore he could never stand my tears would now be the one causing them. It all started on a Monday night, stretching quietly into dawn. The house was silent, the air heavy with unspoken tension. As Adrian walked in with written papers and his face with more seriousness. The papers sat between us on the table, plain sheets that carried more weight than they should. I didn’t need to read them again—I already knew what they meant. And this was just the beginning of my doom. “Divorce papers?”I asked rhetorically, in a broken voice as I began to shiver.” Darling, what's going on?” I asked. “Don't darling me and yes divorce papers, do me a favor and just sign them” Adrian said with no emotions. “Adrian… how can you do this?” I said, my voice cracking into a whisper. I continued, tears flooding my eyes, “I trusted you with everything. Not just the money, not just the properties. I gave you my heart. My name. My entire life.” I paused,tears already flooding my eyes. “And now you want to walk away like none of it meant anything?” I looked at him, eyes searching for anything real. “Tell me… was I really that easy to love and leave?” I asked, my voice trembling. “He scuffed and said “Easy to love? This same man had told me severally that he loved me and he can't stand a day without me.He glanced at me disgustingly and squeezed his handsome face. I was dumbfounded, caught between the weight of his words and the words I couldn’t bring myself to say anything, everything was still processing in my head ”You think all this is because I impregnated my secretary?Since you are not ready to sign the divorce papers, be ready to accept what comes your way”he said and picked up the divorce papers… As he turned,I quickly held unto his right arm ”Adrian please tell me what my offence is,I promise to adjust.You have told me severally that you loved me,you have treated me like a queen.If I had done something that you did not like,please tell me,I will adjust and apologize.” I pleaded in despair. “Woman how do I explain these to you,I Have never loved you,get that into your skull;don't you get”he yanked his arm away from me and disappeared into the room. I hoped earnestly that everything happening at that moment was just a prank. But the seriousness on Adrian’s face told me otherwise. This wasn’t a joke. He had always said he couldn’t stand my tears. He promised me that. He always provided everything I needed, always protected me, always made sure I never had a reason to cry. Yet here I was, tears streaming down, and he just stood there. Adrian’s face was cold, stripped of every emotion I once knew so well. He didn’t flinch at my pain. His hands stayed buried in his pockets, his posture unmoving, unbothered. His blue eyes were still exquisite, just as they had always been. His handsome face hadn’t changed. His stature, strong and steady, remained the same. But something else had shifted. Something I couldn’t explain. I have never felt so heartbroken in my entire life,I bit my lips painfully,I felt my world shattering,I dragged my heavy legs to the couch and sat slowly,I continued crying.I was really heart broken…I love him so much,how could he expect me to sign the divorce papers? While languishing in pain,my phone rang,checking the caller ID,I noticed it was an unknown number. I answered the call nevertheless,I was surprised to hear chuckles from the other end,I would rather call it scoffs with the way the feminine voice sounded. “Isn't it beautiful that I am now pregnant for your husband?”The feminine voice sounded and my heart constricted, although I have never had a conversation with Adrian's secretary ,I discerned that she was the one who was on the phone at this moment. Of course she was the one who got pregnant for my husband. “You don't expect him to keep living with you fruitless thing, do you?”she asked and scoffed harder. I remained quiet and kept staring blankly into the air. “Well,since you are dumb and couldn't speak,I'd just give you a piece of advice,sign the divorce papers already so I can take your position,can't you see that he doesn't love you anymore?”she scoffed and hung up. I lowered my head and dropped the phone slowly to the bed. Adrian! how could you allow another lady get into your head,you always tell me that my love is all that matters most to you on earth. When it was late at night, Adrian got dressed like he was heading out,I quickly approached him and asked“Darling you supposed to be resting at this moment,where are you going?
