Chapter Two

1273 Words
Adrian P.O.V We arrived at the large manor that was holding the Blood Moon Ball. It was the first manor my mother and father built together. My mother likes to use it for all the blood moon balls we host because it's where my mother learned that a vampire can have an eternal love. She never thought she could ever love again until she met my father, Giovanni Bello. My mother and him met while he was still human. I wish for a love like they had, but it only seem like only in my dreams is when I will have something even remotely close. "One hour is all I ask for." My mother said while we made our way inside, "But I would love it if you would stay for the full four." She knows I don't like to stay around for too long just because these old geezers try to push there "lovely" and "beautiful" daughters on me hoping that one of them will get me to break my pack and just take a choosen wife. "As long as no one pisses me off, mother, I will stay." As we got closer to the grand ballroom, we could hear the chatter of people as they waited for us to arrive. We arrived at the grand staircase that led down to the elegant ballroom floor. The windows went from ceiling to floor, which was adorned with black curtains that had accents of gold and silver. In the center of the ballroom was a red rose mosaic that was outlined in gold. It truly popped against the black and different shades of grey marble flooring. Something my father did for my mother as a testament of his love for her. "ANNOUNCING THE ARRIVAL OF QUEEN RUBY BELLO AND HER SON PRINCE ADRIAN BELLO, ACCOMPANIED BY LYCAN PRINCE DAMIEN WULF" Everyone stopped and bowed as we stood before them. I took a deep breath as we descended down the stairs, and already I see three distinct members of the vampire council. My mother hates these men just as much as I do, but she puts together the council, which consists of the six oldest vampire clans to exist. The men that stood before us, though, are either the sons or the grandsons of the original members. She never had a problem with any of the members until their predecessors took over. Now, they are just a headache for her. Always complaining about the regions they looked over and how to get rid of the weak and poor vampires that inhabited the areas. My mother sees all vampires as her children, not just me. They are a part of her in some way or another. "Queen Ruby, my don't we look ever the beauty." Said Duke Baxter. He took my mother's free hand and graced it with a kiss. "Thank you, Duke Baxter." My mother freed her hand from the grip of the Duke, "As always, it's a pleasure to see you." I escorted my mother to her throne that was placed on a platform on the opposite side of the ballroom. Her throne was very unique. It was a large black wingback throne with deep red cushions and roses surrounding it. If you hadn't guessed, roses are my mothers favorite and the family crest. I sat next to her in a thorne similar to hers only it didn't have roses and instead of red cushions mine were a light blue in resemblance of my eyes. Damien sat next to me in an all black throne. "Adrian, you should go and enjoy yourself." She said, nodding her head towards a group of women that were staring at me. "I would rather not and said I did." I said, giving a gentle smile to the group of young women. "Well, in that case, get me a glass of blood wine." I sighed and did as she asked, only knowing that she was pushing me head first into the loins pit. I truly don't want to socialize with anyone because I know my true blood bond is not here. "Mother wants wine. Come with me to the bar." I whispered to Damien, "Mother wants you to socialize, doesn't she?" He said with a smug grin, "Sadly." I sighed. The moment we stepped foot off the platform, we were swarmed by a group of vampire women of all different ages. We make minimal small talk with them before we made our way to the bar. I ordered mom's wine and myself a whiskey. "Already drinking, and we aren't even 30 minutes in." He said, leaning on the bar. I sighed, "Look you, and I both know I don't want to be here." I said, swigging down my whiskey in one gulp, "Another please." Damien shook his head at my request for another shot,"I'll take this to Mother." He said while grabbing the wine glass from me. He began making his way to my mother, and I just sat at the bar, not really wanting to leave but knowing I had to go take my place back by my mother's side. Maledetto inferno, I just want to go home and be alone, I sighed to myself. I contemplated whether I wanted another glass or to just walk away. I'll admit that alcohol had become a comfort for me in a way but never truly satisfied, but I also know it won't reverse the pain I've felt, but it does ease it a little. I decided against another glass and started making my way to my mother. I could see that Damien was entertaining her in my stead. I'm thankful for a true friend like Damien. He has helped me in my darkest, and quite frankly, I dont know what I would do without him or Matthew. I can really say they are my brothers. I began walking back when I noticed her, Victoria. I gagged at the thought of her coming near me. I need to dodge this bullet as much as possible. Victoria is a very well-known Russian super model. She stands at 5'11 and is super thin. I know she recently had work done, but he'll when isn't she. I saw a clearing and started dashing towards my mother, praying this harpy didn't stop me. I don't see her anywhere on my way towards them. Just a few more steps, and I'm home free, I thought. Suddenly, I felt the claws of the harpy on my shoulder, "Adriannnn." She sang, "I've been looking everywhere for you, darling." I hissed at the idea of her searching for me, "How lovely to see you, Victoria." I said, putting on my best fake smile. I could see Damien snickering from behind her. I gave him an evil glare while also trying to engage in whatever she was talking about. "Wouldn't that be lovely, Adrian?" When I finally tuned her back in, I had no idea what she was talking about, "Yes indeed." I said, agreeing blindly to whatever it was, "I'm so sorry, but my mother needs me, pardon. " I walked around her and made my way back to my seat. I managed to walk away from that vulture, only to realize that I agreed to something I had no idea of. "Did you have fun with Victoria the vulture?" Damien said sarcastically, I groaned, "I think I just agree to something, and I have no idea." Damien roared with laughter, "Oh, Goddess. You are in for it now." He said, slapping me on the back, "Ugh, I know, " I said while raking my hand through my hair.
