Ruby POV
I love my son with all my heart but I hate how cold and distant he has grown over the years. Thanks to that b***h Bethany for crushing his heart all those years ago I feel he has given up on the idea of love. All I want is for him to be love and feel loved like I did with his father.
"Please, stay for the whole event Adrian" I asked softly, "I would love it if you did". I can tell he doesn't like the idea, "For you mother one hour." He gives his most charming smile. He truly is a carbon copy of his father. Same chiseled looks, thick wavy black hair and 6'8 height. The only noticeable difference is his eye, which are powder blue, just like the ones I had when I was human once, and his build. Training with his long time Lycan friend Damien has added a little more muscle to him.
He escorted me to my throne that his father built by hand for me. I miss him deeply everytime I step foot into this manor. Everything was crafted for us. "Adrian, you should go and entertain the young ladies" I whispered to him, "I'd rather not". I could see I need him to do something other than sit here all night. "Well can you at least get me a glass of wine?" I asked, "Of course mother."
He took Damien with him which I can only assume for support away from the small crowd of women. I noticed only Damien returning from the bar with my wine. My only assumption is that he stayed to have glass or two of whiskey. "Here you are Mother Ruby." Damien said while graciously handing me the glass, "Is he drinking again?" I asked bitterly taking a sip if my wine, "Unfortunately" he said while taking in a deep breathe.
"I really wish he would stop all together." I took another sip and place the glass on the arm of my chair. I sighed deeply, "I wish he would just enjoy himself while he was here." I could see my sweet bébé deep in his thoughts. " Well, you know Adrian mother" He said while placing his hand on mine "If it's not work, the gym, or helping me with training my newbies, then he is not interested."
"I know but I feel he should at least try." I sighed and then noticed he was briskly making his way over to us, almost in a panic. "Don't look now but Victoria the vulture is on his scent." He smirked, "Look while she stalks her prey." I chuckled at his commentary. "Oh, no. Will she strike in time or will the man hunter lose him before he makes it to the comfort of his mother." My poor Adriano, oh how he tries to run from Bethany's old friend.
"Uh, oh looks like he didn't make it in time." I said as the girl gripped his shoulder. "Ooh, ladies and gentlemen that poor unfortunate bastard." He shook his head, "Will he leave with his balls still intact. The world may never know." I couldn't help but erupt into loud laughter. Damien can truly be a delight sometimes and I love it. I saw that my son managed to escape the poor girl and make his way to his seat.
"I think I agreed to something and I don't know what." He said while raking his hands through his hair, "Ah, so he did lose his balls." Damien whispered to me, I couldnt help but snickered. "What did you just say asshole." He glared at Damien, "Oh Goddess your in for it now." He replied. I knew my son must have zoned out of the conversation with her which now he has to solve his own problem. "Well, Adriano you are just going to have to ask her what it is you agreed upon." I could see he didn't like my answer but he also knew I was right. "I know mother." He sighed, "But I don't want to be around that harpy."
"I understand Adriano but what I don't understand is why do you two keep calling that girl a harpy and a vulture?" The question had always been on my mind and I just wanted to know. "Because she is mother. She swoops in on the rich and prey off of them" He shook his head, "The woman can smell money a mile away." Damien chimed in, "Plus she thinks she is even more attractive with all the surgery." They both shuddered at the thought.
"Why would a women want to do that to herself is beyond me." Adrian added, "To fit the beauty standard of today." I replied, but I understood what he meant. Victoria was a lovely girl growing up but she never felt beautiful in her own skin. She was always competing with Bethany.
The night seem to had been going in a positive direction. Everyone was talking, laughing and enjoying themselves. Which was nice and even my Adriano stayed by my side. We were already half way through the event until the nasally voice of Bethany came through the crowd. I could see Adrian tensing at the idea of that girl being here and I don't blame him. She is a blemish on my son that seems to never go away.
