HEARTBREAKS 💔
MIA'S POV
I started dating at the age of 15, and now I'm about to turn 18. For almost three years, I've had eight relationships that all ended quickly. Every year, I ended up heartbroken dahil sa mga walang kwentang lalaking iyon.
I'm always ranting and crying in front of my friends. At alam kong pagod at inis na sila sa mga drama ko sa pag-ibig.
------------------------------------------
"He cheated on me!" I said while crying.
------------------------------------------
"He said I'm boring!" I said while crying.
------------------------------------------
"He doesn't love me anymore!" I said while crying.
------------------------------------------
"He steals from my stuff!" I said in anger.
------------------------------------------
"He's hurting me!" I said while crying.
------------------------------------------
"He's so toxic!" I said in anger.
------------------------------------------
"He's being unreasonable!" I said feeling annoyed.
------------------------------------------
"Did he cheat?" Drew asked.
"Is he toxic?" Aria asked.
"Did he hurt you?" Brie asked.
"Is he being unreasonable?" Drew asked.
"Did he steal from you?" Aria asked.
"He doesn't love you anymore?" Brie asked.
My friends started bombarding me with questions the moment I sat down. Were at a cafe. I meet up with my friends here at this cafe whenever my boyfriend and I break up. For almost three years, this cafe has been a witness to my breakups.
"Woah chill" I said. "What's with the questions?" I added.
"Wala naman kasing ibabg rason ang pakikipagkita mo samin dito diba, ano hiwalay na naman kayo." Brie said.
"Pang walong boyfriend mo na yon in the past three years." Aria said.
Then they started talking as if I'm not even here.
"They were only in a relationship for a few months—what, one, two?" Aria said.
"Did they even last a month? It was just a few weeks, wasn’t it?" Drew said.
"No, what are you talking about? That was a different guy."Brie said.
"Oh, was that a different one?" Drew said.
"That was a different one — I think that was even last year." Brie said.
"There’s just so many of them, you know?" Drew said.
"There were only eight of them. Makapag usap kayo dyan, parang wala lang ako dito. Hello, I’m right here, you know, can you at least show me some respect." I annoyingly said.
"So, what is the reason you broke up this time?" Aria asked. They we're seriously looking at me and waiting for my answer.
"He’s too kind, like he doesn’t know how to say no to other people. That’s why he even forgets our monthsary because he prioritizes other people’s requests. I don’t even know if he’s aware that he has a girlfriend." I said.
I didn’t hear them answer, so I looked at them. They looked confused and shocked at the same time.
"What?" I said. They grabbed their iced coffees and took a sip at the same time while still looking at me.
"That's it?" Aria asked.
"That's still a red flag for me" I said.
"We thought what he did to you was really bad, or that you had another issue with him." Drew said.
"But just because he’s too kind? You’re really harsh on him — it’s like his kindness is his fault." Brie said.
"Why does it seem like you’re siding with him more? Who's friends are you, mine or his?" I said.
"We were just surprised by your reason." Drew said.
"So, what’s your plan now? Since you’re single again, are you going to go on another blind date?" Aria asked.
To be honest, before I came here, I’ve been thinking that I don’t want to be in a relationship for now. It’s tiring to get into relationships that never last with me.
"I don’t want to for now; none of them even meet my standards." I said.
"Girl, how can they meet your standards when your bases are books and movies? That doesn’t exist in real life — there’s no such thing as a perfect guy." Brie said.
"That’s why they’re only in stories. Because they’re just stories—they’re not real. So you should stop fantasizing about your perfect or ideal man who doesn’t really exist in real life." Aria said.
"Reality, right. And I always ended up by both the bad boys and the nice guys." I said.
"Well there's nothing we can do about that" Aria said.
------------------------------------------
That night, Drew drove us home in his car. The three of us were his Disney Princesses. I was always the last one he dropped off because our house is a bit far from the city.
"Thank you" I said after removing the seatbelt. I then went out of his car. He rolled down the car window.
"Mag ingat ka pauwi, drive safely. Mag chat ka agad sa GC nqtin pag nakarating ka na sa inyo." I said. I was about to go inside when he suddenly call my name.
"Mia" Him calling my name. I faced him again through his car window. He handed me a book, and I immediately took it and looked at the front and back cover. This book's looks so old.
"What's this?" I asked him.
"My grandma gave that to me before she passed away. But I’m not really into reading, so I won’t be able to use that. Since you love reading, I know it’ll be more useful with you" He said.
"But it came from your grandma, right? Shouldn’t it have sentimental value to you? I know you love her" I said.
"Yes, I love her. I never said I’m giving it to you, I’m just lending it. Just return it when you’re done reading" He said.
"You haven't read this one?" I asked.
"Like I said, I'm not really into reading. I haven't even open that yet" He said.
"You haven't? What if your grandma left you a message here?" I said.
"Then, just inform me if you find one" He said. Before I could even answer, he had already rolled up his car window, started the engine, and drove off. That guy can be really shameless sometimes, seriously. I just went inside the house.
