Author's POV
Leah could feel the cold steel handle beneath her fingers. All she needed was the momentum to push open the giant doors when she heard the voice of the most respected and feared man on campus.
The Chancellor.
In a thunderous voice, he shouted as he walked through the crowd with another man who had a large camera hanging around his neck.
"What are you doing here, Leah?"
Leah turned immediately. She hadn't expected him.
"What is everyone gathered here for?" the Chancellor continued. "Do you all want to clean the toilets with Leah?"
At that statement, everyone quickly dispersed, leaving Leah standing alone.
"It's Sophie..." Leah said, pointing toward the auditorium doors.
"One more word from you, and I'll increase your punishment," the Chancellor snapped. "If your habit is gathering students against another student, you'll be expelled from this school. We don't tolerate troublemakers here. Now, get a mop and go straight to work."
Anger burned in her eyes, and her cheeks flushed red, but she remained silent. The only protest she could manage was clenching her right fist and stamping her foot.
"What was she trying to explain?" the cameraman asked.
"I personally sent her away from the event you missed," the Chancellor replied. "She's a troublemaker."
He paused and looked at the man with the expensive camera.
"Now that the program is over, Mr. Charles, what can you do? You arrived a whole hour late."
Disappointment filled Mr. Charles' face. He let out a deep sigh and gave a weak shrug.
"What am I supposed to tell my news station? I hope this doesn't cost me my job. Having Mr. Damien on tomorrow morning's front page would've been a huge success."
"In my opinion, you can take pictures of the stage. If possible, I'll find the student who won the award so you can photograph her. Then," he said, spreading his hands, "you can build a story around that."
"Without Mr. Damien?" Mr. Charles asked, raising his voice.
"I'm afraid there's nothing else you can do."
"If that's the case, I'll take pictures of the auditorium and the podium. Thanks for the suggestion."
"Good. Now, I have to get back to my office."
The two men shook hands. While Mr. Charles climbed the short flight of stairs to the auditorium entrance, the Chancellor headed toward his office.
Expecting nothing unusual, Mr. Charles pushed the doors open.
What he saw was Mr. Damien, resting his forehead against Sophie's while holding her hand.
"Ah... Mr. Damien caught in a torrid affair with a college student..." he muttered excitedly as he quickly raised his camera and began snapping photos.
Sophie tried to step back, but it was too late. Camera flashes lit up the room. The best she could do was cover her face.
“This is even better than the event,” Charles thought. “This will blow up the internet. His rivals would pay a fortune for these pictures.”
"Mr. Damien, are you having an affair with this college student?" he asked, taking picture after picture.
"Bullshit!" Damien exclaimed.
I can't let my sugar girl get caught up in this.
Without hesitation, he removed his suit jacket and draped it over Sophie to shield her face.
"Come with me," he said.
More flashes followed as Damien grabbed Sophie's hand and led her through another door.
The door led to the restrooms, with another exit several yards away.
“If we use the main exit, that crazy cameraman will follow us. I can't let Sophie be humiliated.”
In his haste, Damien didn't realize he had entered the women's restroom. There wasn't time to check. His only concern was getting Sophie away from the cameras.
They hurried into one of the restroom stalls and locked the door.
"Why is that man after you?" Sophie asked, looking into Damien's eyes while trying to steady her breathing.
"When you own a multimillion-dollar corporation, everyone watches your every move," Damien replied. "Success attracts enemies, and my rivals would pay anything to ruin my reputation."
Sophie lowered her gaze.
“Why didn't he cover his own face?” she wondered. “Why was he so determined to protect mine?”
Her thoughts stopped when they heard Mr. Charles shout,
"I found you!"
Neither of them had expected him to follow.
One by one, he began opening the restroom doors.
"A top billionaire with a college student. What a headline, Mr. Damien. You've just saved my job."
They could hear every word and every footstep of the man drawing closer.
“If he finds us, it'll ruin my sugar daddy's reputation,” Sophie thought. “He protected me. Now it's my turn to protect him. But how?”
She rubbed her fingers together nervously.
“I've never done anything like this before, but I have to.” She thought
As the footsteps came closer and another door opened, she suddenly jumped into Damien's arms, wrapping both arms tightly around him as she moaned loudly.
"Ah... yes... right there... yes, baby... I want you... now... please..."
The trick seemed to work. The sound of opening doors stopped.
What they didn't know was that the cameraman was standing directly outside their stall.
"Your acting sounds a little fake," Damien whispered into her ear. "If you want him to believe it, make it sound real."
“This wasn't part of the plan,” Sophie thought, staring at him in surprise.
Damien lifted her, and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist while holding onto his shoulders.
He pressed her gently against the wall.
Sophie's breathing became uneven. Her fingernails dug into his shoulders without her realizing it.
"If you want to help your sugar daddy," he whispered again, "you'll have to be louder."
"Aah... hurry... we need to get back to class... ah..."
The cameraman stood outside, listening.
“Just some students fooling around and skipping class,” he thought.
Instead of moving on to the next stall, curiosity got the better of him.
He placed both hands on the top of the stall frame.
“Let me just take a quick peek,” he thought with a grin.
