"No love. No s*x. Those are my rules. I make them clear to every sugar baby I have. Why do I have to keep repeating myself?"

*******************

With only twenty-four hours to save her dying father from ruthless loan sharks, Sophie is forced to make a choice she never imagined: become the contracted companion of a billionaire who has sworn he will never fall in love.

Damien has everything a man could want: wealth, power, and success. But happiness has always been out of his reach.

After being abandoned by the woman who was supposed to love him most, he makes himself one promise:

Never trust love again.

But Sophie breaks every rule without even trying.

Now Damien must choose between staying in the lonely life he built for himself or risking everything for the woman who taught his heart how to feel again.

But Sophie made herself a promise long before she met him: she would only give her heart and her virginity to the man she married.

Can she keep that promise when the man she was never supposed to be obsessed about becomes the only person she can't stop thinking about.

Your pride won't save your father.
Sophie "I would rather stay single forever than become a sugar baby for any sugar daddy, Olivia." "Keep saying that," Olivia sighed. “Your pride won't save your father." "I'm hanging up." I was already upset. "Think about it, Sophie. Sometimes the only door left is the one you swore you'd never open.” I ended the call at once and pushed open the hospital room door. "...he won't survive another week without the operation." The doctor's voice almost stopped me from moving. “I am so grateful you are here…” At the same time, I looked at my dad on the bed. His eyes had changed. They were blood-red, and he couldn't close his lips properly. “What is happening to my dad?” The stainless food flask slipped from my fingers. I knew it hit the floor, but I couldn't even hear the sound it made. This wasn't how my dad looked this morning. “Dad! Dad!!” I shook his legs. “Dad…” This time, I ignored the doctor and rubbed his hands. “Abram! Abram!!” I tried to reach his subconscious mind. That was his nickname, and he always smiled whenever he heard it. “Please, open your eyes. I brought the food you asked me to prepare. You are the only one I have. Mom left years ago.” I turned to the doctor, who had been standing there, waiting for me. “Doctor, what are we going to do? Please save my dad.” “Sophie, get this straight. Your dad needs more than pints of blood to survive. Your father has seven days to live.” “What? But that's not what you said a few weeks ago.” “His case has deteriorated. He is going to die at least in seven days unless you make the initial deposit for his operation.” “Okay... how much will it cost?” “A hundred thousand dollars initial deposit.” “What? A hundred... thousand... dollars?” I repeated slowly, but I could still hear the figure ringing in my ears. My legs suddenly became so weak that I didn't realize when I sat on the edge of my dad's bed, with only half of my buttocks on it. In an instant, my mind tried to calculate all my savings and the salary I was yet to receive from my part-time coffee delivery job. Even combined, they didn't amount to a thousand dollars. Then my mind went blank. I couldn't breathe. I thought tears came with pain. Yet my eyes couldn't produce any. I couldn't tell how long I stayed like that, but when I came back to my senses, the room was empty. The doctor had gone. I turned and stared at my dad. “Daddy...?” I called out softly and waited to see if he would answer. “Daddy...?” Maybe he would give me his usual smile, even if his lips were crooked. He didn't respond or tease me as he used to. This was the man who said he would sit in the front row at my graduation. The one who said he would take hundreds of pictures with me. The one who promised to cry when he held my college certificate. Where was the person who told me not to quit school when the tuition became too much? Where was the person who took on two jobs just to keep me in school before I got a scholarship? I turned and saw the food I had prepared scattered all over the floor. “Dad said he couldn't wait to taste my cooking…” I must find a way to save Dad. He deserves to live. The only person who came to my mind was my new boss. I was willing to work for him for years, even a lifetime if I had to, just to pay back the money and save my father. My elbows rested on my knees as I lowered my head, my eyes fixed on the floor. But how was I going to tell my boss what had happened? How could I ask him for help when I had only just started working for him? Suddenly, I heard the sound of men walking toward the room, followed by the sharp metallic clack of a gun being c****d. “Doctor, this is the last time I will ask you about Mr Lincoln. If you don't show me the room he is hiding in, I will do something you'll never forget for the rest of your life.” Isn't that Mr Aaron and his men? The Mafia boss my dad owes? As the noise drew closer to the room where my dad was lying, I knew I needed to leave. What if he takes Dad away? My dad is still alive. My fingers fidgeted as I looked around the room. Everywhere was exposed. Fear crept into my mind. What if Mr Aaron saw me when he entered this room? Wouldn't he take his anger out on me? Or maybe the doctor wouldn't bring him and his men here. Just as the door was about to open, I rushed and hid under my dad's bed. The door slammed open. “Is that the bastard?” Heavy boots marched into the room and I saw mud on the boot next to the bed. “I told you. He is unconscious,” I heard the doctor's voice. “Is this man pretending?” Mr Aaron walked closer to him and spent a long moment looking at my dad. “Are you sure this man is dying?” one of his men asked. “Let me put my pistol in his mouth…” “Did he move his fingers?” I heard the click of a pistol being c****d. He must have put the pistol in my dad's mouth. I held my breath. “No, Boss. His body is stiff.” “I would have blasted his brains out. Wait a minute, I heard he has a daughter.” “Yes, Boss.” “Whether Mr Lincoln dies or not, he will pay me my money. Look for his daughter. I will sell or rent her out to an underground brothel. I must get my money back.” “I heard she's a college student,” another man said. “Investigate her school and bring her to me.” “Apart from being a student, Boss, I heard she recently started working as a part-time coffee delivery girl.” “Hmm... interesting. Order a coffee from her workplace…” As the men walked out of the room, my inching left leg hit the cover of the stainless food flask, and it made a sharp noise. “Who made that sound?” They stopped at the doorway. I am doomed.
