CHAPTER 14 — Second try

336 Words
Putting Becky back in the machine was the easy part. Keeping how powerful she really was hidden from these people — that would be the hard part. If they found out how powerful she was, they would definitely kill her and clone her. They didn’t want anyone more powerful than them. Maybe he could alter the results. Fake them. Make it seem like she wasn’t as strong as she really was. If they thought she wasn’t powerful enough, they might try to make her more powerful — enough for her to take over the whole place. But that was a problem for later. For now, Manny had to finish the tests. “Moving onto test number two,” he said quietly. “Lightning intake.” He injected her with pure lightning. At first, nothing happened. Then he saw it. Her body was absorbing it. Her powers were growing — with every passing second. He went to start the third test when a worker walked in and told him to stop. So he did. They took Becky back to her cell. She was still asleep. Manny was worried for her, but before she was taken away, he slipped her a letter telling her everything — so when she woke up, she would know what to do. I woke up hours later. My head hurt. “When did I get back to my cell?” I wondered. Then I remembered the letter. “What does it say?” It read: “Hey Becky — throw this out after reading. When I ran your tests, I saw how powerful you really are. You’re more powerful than everyone here combined. You could escape if you wanted to. And yes… don’t worry. I will join you.” It took me a while to process that, but then I understood. Manny wanted to help me escape. I needed to take this chance. But first… I needed to save Katie. Clone or not — she was my best friend. I had to try.
