Prologue
Growing up I always knew I was different, a human being raised amongst a family of wood elves. You see, I was abandoned as a baby, left to die in the forest all alone, unwanted. Until these two beautiful elves that I now call my parents rescued me. Now, I do not remember much of the story myself, however, Folen and Ena ( my parents) explained it to me the best that they could.
Although it was never easy growing up different from the others, I never really felt like I was different.. I truly felt as if I was an elf, like my ability was just forming late. I remember one afternoon sitting and watching my mother, Ena forming a beautiful wind with her hands, blowing leaves up in the air for all the littlest to run under. I would just move my hands as if they were hers, imagining it was myself forming this soft gust of wind picking up the leaves. It was magical!
On my eleventh birthday, I woke up early to take a walk through the forest, just to inhale the beauty of nature. The blossoming flowers, the trees as they swayed through the wind, the sound of the waterfalls... what I didn't expect to hear was a voice I'd never heard before! " Hiya! Whatcha doin' around these parts!?"
I was obviously SHOCKED when I glanced around and did not see anyone. Was I hearing things? Imagining these voices in my head?
It happened again... " uhm, excuse me.. I don't mean to bother, but.. uhm.. you're stepping on my tail."
I JUMPED!! Did I REALLY just hear this cute little squirrel??!! How was this possible? I thought I was human! Humans do not, can not... communicate with animals..
