Chapter Five. Freya’s POV. “Hey weirdo!” Aaron laughed as he pushed open the door of his jeep and casually strolled over to me. “What are you doing out here alone? Couldn’t afford the bus today?” My fingers wrapped around my bag tightly as I struggled to breathe properly, my eyes darting around to find the fastest escape route. “Get in,” he slurred, his hand coming down heavily around my shoulder, “I’ll give you a ride.” He shoved me towards his car roughly and my heart dropped to the floor when I saw Sasha grinning from ear to ear in the front seat of his jeep. I never should have agreed to Rafe dropping me off. What was I even thinking? That he would care enough about someone like me to get me to school safely? Heck! This could even be his plan for all I know. Tears sprang to the corner of my eyes as I stumbled back away from Aaron but his grip on my shoulder tightened and the weird smile on his face grew thinner, like he was running out of patience and waiting for the perfect moment to snap. “P-Please… I don’t want any trouble, I-I just want to get to class early…” I pleaded, stumbling over every word. Aaron burst out laughing, his entire body shaking against mine as he shoved me forward towards his car, “Shut up and get in, we have a little surprise for you today, weirdo.” My entire body stiffened at the mere thought of all the horrible things they could have planned for me. Running wasn’t an option, there was no way I could outrun someone like Aaron. And it would only make things worse for me. Just as he pulled open the back door and was about to push me inside, a loud roaring sound filled my ears and my head spun around sharply just in time to see Rafe’s car race towards us. The tires squealed as he brought the car to an abrupt halt besides Aaron jeep and before anyone could react, the door flew open and Rafe stormed out. “Rafe! You’re right on time,” Aaron began, grabbing my arm and shoving me in front of Rafe, “look what we found, you up for some fun?” He cackled devilishly while I winced in pain at how tightly he was holding onto me. Rafe looked right past me like I wasn’t even there, his eyes remained fixed on Aaron and for a second, I had no idea if that was a good thing or a bad thing for me. The three of them… together… I would never survive whatever they had planned. I bowed my head and whispered a silent prayer to the moon goddess, not like I believed she ever listened to me but I desperately needed something to believe in at that moment. “We don’t have time for this Aaron, we have better things to do than talk about some pathetic omega.” Rafe spoke, his voice smooth enough to remind me just how lethal he could be when he wanted to. “But Rafe,” Sasha suddenly spoke up from her seat in the jeep, “it’s been a while we had some fun together. Come on, don’t ruin the fun. I already have everything planned, all we need to do is get her there.” She added. I swallowed hard, my body trembling at how they could speak so freely knowing fully well I was standing right there. Suddenly, Rafe turned and looked right at me. For the first time since he got down from his car, he looked straight into my eyes and a weird sensation exploded in the pit of my stomach when those fiery blue eyes of his rested on me. A tingling sensation shot through me when his eyes swept over me, with a far away look in them like he was considering what Sasha had said and imaging all the worst ways he could torture me. By the moons! I bit down hard on my lip, forcing back the tears that stung the back of my eyes because crying in front of them would only make them more interested in making my life miserable. “F**k off!” Rafe said, glaring right at me and I raised a brow in confusion. “W-Wha-“ “I said f**k off!” He yelled, louder this time and I scurried forward, desperate to get away from them with this opportunity but I had barely taken a step when Aaron grabbed me and yanked me back to him. “Hell No! She’s not going anywhere. I found her first and until I’m done with her, she’s not leaving.” Aaron growled, glaring right at Rafe with a weird glint in his eyes. There was something about the way they were glaring at each other, an unspoken tension I was certain everyone could feel. It was becoming more intense until Sasha cleared her throat noisily and stepped down from the car, “Fine. How about we just go with Rafe?” Sasha said to Aaron with a gentle tone, “we could always come back for her whenever we want.” They fell silent for a second or two before Aaron suddenly pushed me aside aggressively with a loud grunt, “Alright.” He stormed towards his car, got in and slammed the door angrily. Sasha did the same and Rafe took one last glance at me before he got into his and pulled away from the curb. I was left standing there, speechless and unsure of what had just happened. For a moment, I wondered if this was the moon goddess that had just saved me but it didn’t make any sense. Just like Sasha said, they could always come back for me and now that I was living under the same roof with Rafe. I ran my hand over my face in frustration. There was no denying the fact that staying with Rafe and his father would make things easier for me financially but there was no way I could survive for long under that roof with Rafe. And when Sasha and Aaron finds out…. I shook my head aggressively, not wanting to think about the horrors that laid ahead. One step at a time, I should just focus on surviving another day at DrakenVille High.
