An Awkward Evening

[Abbie’s POV] I stand in front of the townhouse that up until recently I shared with my brother. The lights inside are on and the windows give a soft and welcoming glow, but I already know the atmosphere inside isn’t one that I want to be part of, but because of my promise, I have no choice but to move forward step by step. For most of the school day, all I could think about was this impromptu reunion, and it left my stomach so sick that I could hurl. However, even if I did so and claimed to be sick, I knew I wouldn’t be able to get away from participating in the evening's event.
