[Austin’s POV]
I watch the scene unfold in front of me, taking in each and every player as they take their rightful places, and it is almost laughable. It was easy to see exactly what my father was doing here. He was making it clear to me and William that the kitten was off limits due to her supposed engagement to Desmond, while in turn showing the kitten that we, or rather, William, was off limits because of Rachel.
Honestly, I could almost applaud his attempt, but then he would know that we, or at least, I was onto what he was up to.
“Shall we?” He asks now as the kitten takes her place beside Desmond. “The gathering has already begun.”
“Of course,” Claud agrees while the kitten’s father remains silent. “Please, lead the way.”
