I stare at William in disbelief as I try to process what it is that he is saying. How could he just come and go as he pleased and then expect me to let him do what he wanted? And why did I so desperately want to just give in and let him do what he wanted?
With him here with me right now, I felt like I could actually breathe for the first time in a week. I didn’t even realize that I was suffocating, but here I was, taking long, greedy gulps of the air that was the man in front of me.
“Should I take your silence as understanding?” He asks, snapping me out of my daze.
“No,” I rasp, pressing my hands against his chest and pushing. “You can’t just do things like this.”
“Like what?” He asks, grabbing my wrists. “I don’t quite understand what you mean.”
