THE NEXT MORNING
Awakening before the crack of dawn was necessary for the princess in order to choose a suitable guard for herself. Because of this, she showered and ate breakfast before making her way into the grand hallway.
"Good morning Duchess," Princess Sabrina greeted the Duchess with a bow and took a seat next to her.
In the large hallway, the seven gentlemen were already waiting for them. A seat directly across from the duchess and the princess had been assigned to each of them.
"Please introduce yourselves one by one, young gentlemen. Thank you. Begin with yourself." Mister Mursô was pointed out by Duchess Serena.
"Ahh.. alright, your highness.'' He stood up and bowed to the Duchess before introducing himself, "Castóy Mursô is my name, and I am 32 years old from Solvania. I used to own and operate a wine business with my family."
He took his place in the chair.
"Thank you very much, mister Mursô." the Duchess turned to her attendant, and said, "Please make a note of their identity details."
The servant nodded in response, and noted everything on the paper with ink.
"Next one please." the Duchess said with a cold tone.
The princess, on the other hand, did gaze at Dillion from time to time. She was interested in getting to know him, but only if she was given permission to do so.
The next candidate stood up from his seat, and he bowed to the Duchess and the princess before saying, "My name is Von Teren Sai, and I am 29 years old from Volka town. My family consisted of only my mother and me. Other people were killed during a war there, and I used to work as a cobbler in that area."
He took a seat, and the duchess gave him a friendly nod.
The next one took a step forward, "My name is Ellen Vastura and I am 20 years old. Please accept my greetings, Your Highness. In the Old Valley village, where I grew up, my dad and I were both farmers."
He took his place in the chair.
And the next man rose to his feet and said, "Gracious your highness!" he bowed, "My name is Sky Petri, 30 years old, from the kingdom of Zerus, where I worked as a servant and never had any parents."
"Please accept my apologies, Mr. Petri." The Duchess of Prisionera offered her condolences.
The next man took his place, "Hello, my name is Lance Scott and I am just 20 years old. I am from the new market in Prisionera. I used to spend the majority of my time with my father in his ceramic and pottery shop."
He took his seat and the next man stood up.
"Greetings, Your Highness," he bowed, before starting speaking, "My name is Gisel Murf, and I am a native of the kingdom of Anewza, where I currently reside. In the previous three years, I had been exiled from that realm because I had betrayed the monarch by pampering his children and stealing food from their dinner tables. Not only that, but after that, I was forced to live on the streets entirely. In the following days, I arrived in the kingdom of Prisionera, where the people were, to say the least, courteous and generous to me. To be able to work here, I required time and patience..."
"I see you have had a lengthy career history, I guess. You, on the other hand, speak too much." The Duchess brought this into attention as she pointed out.
"Please accept my apologies, your highness; I do, in fact, speak a lot when there are other people about me." He took his place in the chair.
The last in the row was Dillion, who jumped to his feet and bowed to the royal people Infront of him, "Good morning, Duchess and Princess." he started to introduce himself.
When he was going to provide some personal information about himself, the princess smiled and seemed excited but she did not show her excitement to others.
"My name is Dillon, and I do not have a family name, which is very unfortunate. I am 22 years old and have received no formal schooling. I grew up and lived in the Bringdal Town in the Prisionera area since I was five years old, and I used to take shelter and eat at a granny's house, who looked after me, from the very beginning. She passed away about a month ago, and I was forced to live on the streets. In addition, I have no idea who my family is." He let out a long, deep sigh.
"We are truly sorry for what happened to you, Dillion." The duchess made the following observation: "Thank you to everyone for taking the time to introduce yourselves. You may all proceed to the ground with the Duke at this point. We will be on our way to your location to witness your strength."
All seven of the men rose to their feet and bowed as a group.
"I would appreciate it if you all would follow me." Duke Raphael announced before he made his way toward the practise field along with the seven men.
Upon everyone leaving the hall, Duchess Serena approached the princess and asked, "Did you have a chance to meet everyone yesterday?"
"Please accept my apologies, Duchess, but I was only able to meet five of them due to mister Sky and Lance's refusal to open their doors." Princess Sabrina stated her point emphatically.
"I see, so who do you prefer or like to have as a guard?" The Duchess had inquired.
"Anyone but Mr Castóy! He was drinking wine yesterday night when I met him and had taken alcohol with him to this palace. I do not even like the idea of having a drunken man watch over me and be a guard." The princess shook her head in displeasure and disgust.
"I see; let us proceed to the practise field to determine who is the best." Duchess Serena smiled.
