RAVAYA I blinked, startled. "What?" He bought me to marry me? "With my bloodline and yours combined, our child would be a masterpiece. A god among wolves," he drawled, and my heart dropped. No, this was not about me becoming his wife. It was to become his breeder. "Don't you think so, brother?" He asked, and I turned to look at who he was talking about. The air rushed out of my lungs at the sight of him. I knew who it was the instant I saw him. The one who'd brought me in. My mate. Dressed completely in black, he stood in the corner, a switchblade spinning lazily between his gloved fingers. His pitch-black hair was pulled up in a sleek ponytail, and his eyes ...they were blood red, rimmed black. A mole sat under his right eye. He had to be at least 6'3" with broad shoulders and a muscular physique. If sexy was a being, it had to be him. I gulped, turning away from him. "Who are you people?" I asked, and his brother picked up a contract on the side table, gesturing at Mr Steel to get rid of the cuffs on my wrists. He was in front of me in an instant, crouching and grabbing my wrists. He was so close, his scent serenaded me. I watched in disbelief as he broke the silver cuffs with his hands and tossed them to the ground. His strength was insane. My gaze lingered on him as he returned to his previous position, looking absentminded. His silver-eyed brother, on the other hand, simply handed me the contract. "What is this?" I said. He gestured at the document. "A contract stating that you agree to change your name and identity. It's an indefinite agreement." "No. I won't do it," I hissed, and he sighed, rising to his feet. In that moment, I saw it. The signet ring on his finger bearing the crest of the most dangerous mafia syndicate in existence. The serpent coiled around a crown of thorns. The Draven Syndicate. No...that couldn't be right. Because if he was truly the young boss, he was Evander, who was next in line for the title of mafia don. And the other man whom he'd called 'brother' was...Kael Draven. My worst enemy, who was also...my mate. He was the man who'd orchestrated the attack on my people. In an instant, I was overcome with rage and bloodthirst. But I knew I needed to take things easy. If I lashed out without a plan, I was bound to fail. "What do I get in return?" I asked Evander, and he smirked. "Now we're talking," he stated, his eyes lighting up. He was just as bad as his brother, if not worse. But if I wanted to take down Kael, this was an opportunity I couldn't ignore. "You get to become the queen of the Draven Syndicate," he stated, and my brows creased up into a frown. Would they really let an outsider like me take over their empire as queen? As long as I was alive, I was a threat to them. Weren't they aware that I knew of their involvement in the destruction of my rebellion group? No, this was more than just fishy. "Is this some kind of game?" I asked, and Evander pinched the bridge of his nostrils. "This is a platter of real gold that has been laid out before you. I expected you to be much smarter than this, Ravaya," he said. Something was not right. I had a strong feeling that there was a mix-up somewhere. Earlier in the car, Kael had called me 'Ravaya Lycari.' And now Evander was speaking as if he was quite familiar with me. But if they were truly mistaking me for someone else, it was all for the best. Still, I had a bad feeling about this. A loud crashing sound pierced through my thoughts, a chill running through me. Evander had just thrown a glass of wine across the room. Impatient much? "You're not going to sign while I'm asking nicely," he said, his fists curled tight. He almost looked constipated. Before I could process what was happening, he'd pinned me down with my chest to the floor. "Hand me the seal, K," he said to his brother, and my heart sank. Forcefully, Evander pressed my thumb on the ink and pressed it on the document. Then he released me. Brushing his hair away from his face, he proceeded to use his seal on the document. "Take her, K. This entitled little b***h needs to be properly tamed," he said, and I snarled at him. How dare he call me an entitled b***h? I'm not a dog, why would I need taming? As Kael grabbed me, I rolled over, grabbing a fallen pen. I didn't fight him as he led me out of the room. If I stayed in this building for another day, I was certain that I would get killed. Still, my only mission was to kill Kael. And I would do it, even if it cost me my life. ... Once the door clicked shut behind us, I turned slowly to face him. Kael. We were alone in a narrow room bathed in ominous red light, like a slaughterhouse dressed up in seduction. He just stood there with that maddening, bored expression, like nothing I did mattered. Fine. I lunged at him with the pen. The metal tore into his face, and blood oozed from the wound. He released an exasperated sigh. To my horror, the wound healed instantly. "Don't take your bullshit out on me, woman. Do not test me," he said, and I lunged myself at him again. He effortlessly spun me around and pinned me against the wall, trapping me with his body. Storm whimpered in my head, eager to be claimed by our mate. f*****g mate bond. "Let go of me," I hissed, and he chuckled darkly. "I'm going to enjoy breaking you." I growled, anger coating my insides. "f**k you." He leaned closer, his lips brushing my earlobe as he whispered in that baritone voice of his. "No thanks." A shiver raced down my spine. This wasn't the time to let my ovaries and hormones speak for me. So I twisted out of his hold and knocked my forehead into his nose. He released me instantly, cursing under his breath in annoyance. I knocked my knee into his groin, and he doubled over. But there was still no sign that he was actually in pain. So I struck again, stabbing him in the throat. He moved faster than I could blink, tackling me to the floor. His chest heaved, his brows drawn tight as his blood dropped on me. "Are you that desperate for death?" He questioned. "What? Are you going to kill me and risk your brother's wrath? You're his loyal dog, remember?" I taunted, and the corner of his mouth twitched. He yanked the pen out of his throat, throwing it across the room. "Or I can just kill you and tell him you took your own life," he hissed, his crimson eyes twinkling. There it was. Madness. I knew I couldn't have been wrong about him. "Go ahead then, kill me," I snapped, and he attempted to pull away from me only to lose his balance because I moved. I froze not because this position was insanely intimate. But because I could feel his budge pressed against my core. He was...large. My body betrayed me as heat flared low in my belly. He was staring at me strangely now. It felt as though he could see right through my soul. "Mate?" He rasped, and I winced. "No...that can't be..." Slowly, the frown on his face faded. "You're not Ravaya Lycari. Who the hell are you?"
