Chapter Two: Unveiling Shadows

213 Words
The streets of Seoul were quieter now, the usual cacophony of voices and traffic reduced to a distant hum. Jihoon walked beside Eunji, their footsteps echoing softly against the pavement. He could sense her unease, a tension in the air that hadn’t been there before. “Thank you for walking me home,” Eunji said, breaking the silence. “I usually don’t get scared, but that guy... he was different.” Jihoon nodded, his eyes scanning their surroundings. “It’s better to be safe. If you ever feel uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to call me.” Eunji smiled up at him, a warmth in her eyes that made Jihoon’s heart ache. “You’re always looking out for me. Sometimes I wonder why you care so much.” Jihoon hesitated. The truth was something he couldn’t share, not yet. “You’re important to me, Eunji. That’s all.” They reached her apartment building, an older structure with ivy climbing its walls. Eunji paused at the entrance, turning to face him. “Would you like to come in for a coffee? As a thank you.” Jihoon’s initial instinct was to refuse, to keep his distance. But the longing in her eyes and the need to protect her won out. “Sure, I’d like that.”
