The next morning, Jihoon and Eunji set out for the mountains. Jisoo insisted on driving them part of the way, her concern for Eunji evident. “Are you sure you’ll be okay out there?”
Eunji nodded, squeezing her friend’s hand. “We’ll be fine, Jisoo. Thank you for everything.”
Jisoo gave Jihoon a stern look. “Take care of her.”
“I will,” Jihoon promised.
As they drove into the countryside, the city’s noise and chaos gave way to the serene beauty of nature. The air was fresh, the mountains towering in the distance. Jihoon and Eunji felt a mix of excitement and trepidation as they approached their destination.
They arrived at a small village at the base of the mountains, where they planned to gather supplies and information. The villagers were wary but helpful, providing them with maps and warnings about the treacherous terrain.
As they prepared to leave the village, an old woman approached them, her eyes sharp with wisdom. “You seek the artifact,” she said, her voice raspy.
Jihoon and Eunji exchanged a surprised glance. “Yes,” Jihoon replied. “How do you know?”
The woman smiled, revealing a row of missing teeth.
