Blake
The idea of meeting up with the mutt was interesting. Being in the human town to begin with was interesting as well. I had been before but it was quite a while ago, and I didn't particularly remember it. As I walked around the town square with Wesley I noticed people were staring at me. I tried not to look like a Vampire King, and had ditched my usual crown and cape get up for dark blue jeans, and a black long sleeved shirt. Still, I felt like people knew who I was. “Why do they all look at me?” I asked Wesley.
He turned to see the people who were looking at me and laughed, “You know Blake, by human standards you are considered pretty good looking. They’re probably just looking at you because they think you’re hot.”
I looked back at some of the people that would look at me, and did finally notice that when they got a good look at me, they would either blush afterwards, or turn to their friends or whoever they were and giggle. Some would smile at me like they wanted me to return the smile, but I Didn't’ instead I just continued walking with Wesley. “Wait, I'm only good looking by human standards?” I joked.
Wesley rolled his eyes, “Remember Blake we agreed that I wouldn’t treat you like you have a higher status than me so it wouldn’t seem weird to anyone listening. That means I’m allowed to be mean to you.”
I snort. “So what are you going to say all the things you wish you could say to me now?”
Wesley shook his head, “Not really. I actually like hanging around you, so I don’t have anything mean to say.”
Wesley really was my best friend, so I believed him. When I was taking over the coven he stayed by my side and always believed in me. Making him my right hand man.
We continued to walk toward the cafe. Soon, I saw the light of the sign lit up right above the small building that said “Stella’s”
I wasn’t even too close to the cafe but I could already smell the scent of her. I could also tell that there was another mutt somewhere in the area. Probably a friend she brought of hers that was close by somewhere, but I didn’t have time to figure out where they were. I turned to Wesley, “I got it from here if you want to wait for me somewhere else I’ll call you when I’m ready to go back home.”
Wesley nodded, “There’s a bookstore across from the cafe, I’ll be there.”
We started to take off in different directions as I started to walk toward the cafe. The scent got stronger and I was there at the doors walking in. Wesley seemed to be right. It wasn’t bustling with people, but there was chatter going on around the place. Everyone seemed to keep to themselves and not even look up to see who walked in. There was however one pair of eyes that was on me. The curious wide brown eyes of Andrea were watching me from a back booth. Her eyebrows were raised like she didn’t expect me to show up. I looked at my watch and noticed that I was 10 minutes late, so she probably did think that I wasn’t going to show up.
I headed to the back where the table was and sat on the side of the booth across from her. “Sorry I’m late” I said.
“Oh no worries. I’m just glad you came.” She said happily.
I sighed. Hearing her happiness, and knowing my intention was to shut her down was a little hard. I guess she could sense what my sigh was for because she quickly said, “But please just hear me out. I need to talk to you, and obviously you feel you need to talk to me too otherwise you wouldn’t be here. Just, let me go first if you can.”
I nodded, “Okay I can do that.”
Before Andrea could continue a waitress came up to us, “Were you ready to order sir?” I didn’t realize Andrea had already ordered and there was a menu in front of me at the table. I looked down at it and saw the coffee menu. Vampires don’t need to drink things either, but we can taste a bit. Coffee is one of the few things we can taste because of how bitter it is. “Black coffee please.”
The waitress smiled at me, and I saw she was twirling her hair in her finger slightly. “Of course it’ll be right out. Is that all I can do for you?”
“Yeah that’s all.” As I said that I looked up at Andrea. It was a habit for me to look up at Eveline to see her reaction when another girl blatantly flirted with me. I saw Andrea staring daggers at the waitress. I couldn’t help but smile slightly. It was always so interesting to see reactions like that. The waitress noticed Andrea staring at her and she quickly stopped and walked away to get my coffee.
Andrea looked back at me pretending like she didn’t just do what she did. She cleared her throat and said, “First off I just want to say that I apologize for barging into your bedroom the way I did. I’m sure you were taken off guard, and it was really inappropriate on my part.”
“Oh trust, don't worry. That wasn’t my bedroom. That was just the feeding room.” I added before she could continue. I could tell that it made her uncomfortable, and it was what I had expected in the first place.
She didn’t let her discomfort show for long because she quickly started back up. “I know this isn’t a situation you wanted to be in, and you really don’t owe me anything. However, this isn’t an unnatural thing. There are other wolves who mated to vampires. I’m not sure if you know of the Alpha who mated to a Vampire Queen. It was unexpected for them as well. At least I assume. I don’t know any wolf who expects to mate with a vampire. Anyway, I just wanted to explain to you that the mate bond was not something a wolf could control. It’s something that the Moon Goddess choses for us, and I know the Moon Goddess means nothing to you, but if I could show you how the mate bond feels I would.”
I leaned back in the seat as I asked, “And how exactly does it make you feel?”
She swallowed as she explained, “Well, it kind of makes me want to just be around you a lot. It um, it makes me want to protect you I guess.”
“You? Protect me? Aren’t you just an Omega mutt? You do remember how easy it was for me to grab onto your neck, don't you?” I tried to remind her.
“Oh I’m well aware. But I’m just telling you how it feels. Listen there’s no way that I’m going to give up without you learning about me, or me learning about you. I want to give it all a chance. I’ll keep trying until I feel like we really don’t work. So it’s up to you if you just want to be rude and tell me it won’t work. Or spend some time getting to know me here, and slowly break my heart.”
The idea that she admitted she was going into this expecting me to break her heart, but just asking for me to do it slowly was interesting.
“You’re already here. Might as well just do it.” She added.
The waitress came, set down my coffee and quickly left not trying to aggravate Andrea anymore. I looked back at Andrea and said, “So, what do you do for fun then?”
