Stories become Reality
Chapter One Andy Since I was a little girl the idea of finding your mate was something that everyone dreamed about. I remember imagining what they would look like. At first I imagined them being strong and handsome. A wolf that was able to protect me no matter what. There were times that I imagined being mated to an Alpha. The idea of being called Luna was fun, but soon as I got older I didn’t really want that. I didn’t want the responsibility that came with being Luna, nor the attention. Eventually all I wanted in a mate was someone who was caring, and loved me. I didn’t care about their looks, or their status. I just wanted true love. Soon, though another possibility about my mate started to arise, and it was an idea that I completely despised. Stories spread fast around the pack, and other surrounding packs. At first it was told like a nightmare, then a fun story, and then a romance story. An Alpha was mated to a vampire. Some believed he should’ve rejected her immediately, instead they were protected by the Lycan King. It was said that the Moon Goddess never messes up, so if she paired them together, and they actually accepted it, then it was meant to be. Second chance mates were a rare thing, so there were some wolves in my pack that believed it was the Moon Goddess trying to say that the Alpha would belong to his second chance mate, but then the stories started to progress. Apparently a vampire WAS the second chance mate for that Alpha’s Beta. My friends in the pack, some other Omegas were talking about it a lot. We wondered what it was like for the other members in that pack, did they actually have to listen to and respect that vampire? Did they really call her Luna. It was something so unheard of, and never imagined. It was something I never imagined, being mated to a vampire. I wonder what would’ve happened if I stayed home that day. If I listened to Paloma. Would I have just never met him? Would I have gone my whole life believing I didn’t have a mate? I was having a sleepover with my best friend Lydia. She was unmated as was I. I had been unmated for a few years and was already 19 and had been dreaming of the day I found my mate for a while. There were some other Omegas at the sleepover. Paloma, a girl who had joined our back when I was 6 and she was 7. Her family had been the only survivors of a vampire attack on their pack. So, whenever we brought up the vampires as mates, I could see Paloma shudder in disgust. She was still a good friend of mine and I liked hanging out with her. Also at the sleep over was Aileen who we sometimes hung out with, and Yvette, who was friends with Lydia, and was already matted to the Beta of our pack. “Why don’t we go over to the vampire coven by the cliffs. See if one of you girls feel the mate bond with them.” Yvette suggested. The thing about Yvette is she loved to suggest things that were most likely dangerous. But they did tend to be fun. We went skinny dipping once at the lake closest to us. Which was something I would have NEVER done had she not suggested it. At first I believed that was something her mate hated about her, but after a while Yvette said that he found it interesting and fun. I could see Paloma’s face scowl instantly. She didn’t say anything, but I didn’t need her to, to know she thought it was a bad idea. Aileen just laughed, “Yeah right. It’s probably just within that messed up pack. The Alpha probably messed with the Moon Goddess.” Yvette grinned, “So then you have nothing to be afraid of.” “Except the vampire’s themselves.” Paloma said. Lydia nodded, “Yeah that’s true.” “I think it would be fun. Don’t you think so? We can do something mysterious and risky!” “It could possibly be fun.” Aileen said. “Maybe, but it’s still scary.” Lydia said, then looked at me, and asked, “What do you think Andy?” I shrugged, “It’s dangerous.” “Dangerously fun.” Yvette said, and Aileen and Lydia laughed. I didn’t realize how serious they were until we started talking about it more, and eventually Yvette got up to get her sweater. “Okay then let’s go!” Paloma started to realize the seriousness of the situation and she stood up in protest. “Wait, no. Guys I don’t like this. I’m not going.” Yvette rolled her eyes. “Fine, you can stay, but just don’t tell anyone. So is anyone going to stay with Paloma here?” I made eye contact with Paloma and I could see the fear behind her green eyes. She slightly shook her head to tell me not to go. “We’ll be safe. I promise.” I told her. Paloma sighed and nodded. I grabbed my jacket and followed the rest of the girls as they started to head out. I turned back one last time as Paloma shut the door. I was not a stranger to the forest and had been in here many times since I was a pup. But I had never taken the route to the vampire castle before. I never even dreamed of it. Without Yvette I wasn’t a trouble maker, and paid attention to any laws put forth by our Alpha and Luna. Then again technically they never had a law that said we couldn’t go to the castle. I think it was just one of those things where they assumed no one would be stupid enough to go so they didn’t need to bring it up. I followed behind the girls as they all giggled imagining what they would do if a vampire was actually their mate. When Lydia asked me how I felt about it I made a gagging noise and laughed. It genuinely was something that disgusted me. Even the smell of vampires are repulsive to us. I had met one when I was 15 and distinctly remember how much I hated their scent. The Alpha from that pack who’s mated to one must have the worst nose ever to be able to put up with it. It was something I never wanted. But I guess that was too much to ask for. The Moon Goddess was probably laughing at me as she saw me talking about how disgusting vampires were. I think back on the trip to the vampire castle a lot. How I wished I stayed with Paloma In our wolf form, it took us about 15 minutes to get to the vampire castle. It was a massive building that had a Victorian gothic feel to it. The roof of each area of the building were black bricked triangles. And the windows were long and pointed at the end. Fitting for a vampire castle. It was nighttime, so we could see the lights lit up around the castle. “So what’s the plan? We just walk in there and say we’re looking for mates?” Aileen said giggling. Lydia shrugged while Yvette said, “Let’s get closer. If we run into one of them as long as we don’t seem like threat we’ll be fine.” Our pack and this coven didn’t have a treaty on at the time, but it was still known that if one attacked the other would most likely attack in revenge. As we got closer to the structure of the building, my head started to spin. I thought I was getting sick for a second. “Do any of you feel it yet?” Yvette asked. “Nope, I just smell that awful smell. "What does it feel like anyway?” Lydia asked in return. When she said that, I couldn’t help but get confused. What smell? I didn’t smell anything particularly bad. Yvette started to explain, “You’ll feel like a daze. Suddenly your senses only want them. You’ll start to feel drawn to them. Your body will move on its own, and your wolf will take you to them.” As Yvette explained, I realized that was exactly how I was feeling. Then I heard my wolf Hazel say, “He’s here. Mate. In the castle." And as my worst fear started to come true, I felt myself start to head toward the castle to find my mate. My vampire mate.
