19 Mina screamed in terror. Above her, Copper weaved back and forth, dodging the black spines. A hundred thoughts passed through her mind, but mainly she feared that Copper didn’t know she’d fallen off of his back. She maneuvered herself face-down toward the ground and immediately regretted it. Seeing the desert landscape speeding toward her was like looking death straight in the face.
