Mina screamed in terror.
Above her, Copper weaved back and forth, dodging the black spines. A hundred thoughts passed through her mind, but mainly she feared that Copper didn’t know she’d fallen off of his back. She maneuvered herself face-down toward the ground and immediately regretted it. Seeing the desert landscape speeding toward her was like looking death straight in the face.
Before she could prepare for her untimely demise, a massive claw grabbed ahold of her, breaking her freefall. Her body whipped harshly to a stop, but she was alive. She looked up to see the large brass dragon from her test.
