He was asking me a genuine question, and his motive for asking was transparent enough; he cared for his sister and wanted her to be happy.
“What would you suggest?” I asked, cautiously.
I didn’t really think he was asking me because he had a suggestion, but it would give me more of an insight into what was important in their world if he was willing to offer me some help.
“What I would suggest is irrelevant. There’s no point in making a grand romantic gesture if it was my idea, is there?”
"Who said anything about romance?" I raised one of my eyebrows as I asked. "I'm not looking to sweep your sister off her feet."
